Ranch 99 is always my "go to" market whenever I am in the Bay Area since we do not have a variety of Asian stores where I am at ~ like a kid in a candy store (spending a Minimum of $250+ to say the least). The crews are always professionals and respectful. Today was different, as I had the unpleasant experience with one of your cashier. His name tag says "Teddy" an Asian male with a pony tail. I sorted out my groceries and put it in different freezer bags to make it easier. I guess this is not to Teddy's liking since before I can remove the items from the bag into the conveyor, he just grab it and just start throwing everything on the conveyor and my freezer bag on the other side rudely. He never even bothered to help out bagging the items. Correct me if I am wrong, bagging is still part of cashiers' job? Even if it still, I always help in putting my own groceries. This person doesn't have any professionalism nor any friendly demeanor in dealing with customers; if anything, it feels like "He doesn't want to be there or be bothered." Even if he can't speak English (which I doubt), good attitude and a smile is a universal language that can be expressed without a need for words; and anyone can relate to. Shouldn't there be a training for employees on social skills in place? Respect...
Read moreThis store has very rude, unfriendly and unhelpful cashiers. I was checking out and needed to add a bag of mung beans to my purchase after it was bagged. Asked the girl who had already bagged my groceries if she could get the extra bag of mung beans I just purchased. The female bagger told me I should go get it after I finish paying. I was going to tell her she worked there and should be the one helping out a paid customer but did not want to be confrontational. The female bagger then proceeded to walk around straightening things that didn’t need straightening…what type of service is this? 99 Ranch this is not Asia…it is a customer service driven environment. Please do better and train your frontline employees. Raley’s, Safeway, all other grocery stores employees jump eagerly to go get stuff from the shelves for customers. What gets me is the female bagger told me she didn’t know where it is so I should go get it. 🙄
Also, where is your ethnically diverse workforce? It is an Asian grocery store but a diverse community that your employee pool should come from? You are setting yourself up for a discrimination lawsuit.
Btw, this is a review for the Folsom 99 Ranch at 12:40 on 4/5/24…hopefully management can track this rude female bagger and put her through some needed customer...
Read moreIf you like Asian food this place is a dream come true. The Southgate store is much larger than the Folsom store. It approaches the size of Costco. One of my favorite things is their hot food counter. They have everything from a full-size roast pig to cooked quail. Their Peking duck is better than most restaurants. Of course they have all the normal Chinese dishes and dim sum hot and to go. Their seafood department is also excellent. They have a wide selection of fresh fish as well as all kinds of frozen seafood. The Southgate store includes an incredible number of huge fish tanks filled with all kinds of live fish which they will prepare for you anyway you like. The produce department is likewise an amazing experience. About 1/4 of the vegetables I've never heard of before. Not only are they going to have just about any Chinese food ingredient you can think of, but they're going to have numerous varieties of it as well. If your Mandarin is a little rusty you might want to bring an Asian friend with you. I did and I had a real...
