First of all I am so grateful on this event every year, me and my family always look forward of seeing this every year. But last night December 13th 2023 at 7:30 pm is an awful experience, at first we have a good time walking around watching the lights till we reach the butlers store I step on the dog poop and I could tell many people did the same thing as well . Read moreI have been coming here since I was a little girl. Although I predominantly live in California now, every year when we fly back to the Carolinas for Christmas, we always visit.
The display has grown larger and you are able to stroll under the live oak trees bedecked with a million lights. On certain days during weekends, Santa is in the Santa House and you may visit him or take a carriage ride. Take in a meal at a nearby restaurant or visit other light displays in nearby Rutherfordton or Spindale.

Read moreWe went to see the lights last weekend and they are beautiful. Also, the people we met in Forest City were so nice. If you're going for the lights and to chat with friendly locals, do it. If you're going to also "ice skate" and see Santa's house, you may be disappointed. The "ice skating" is a small area set up in a parking lot. The "rink" is a bunch of plastic pieces snapped together and covered in silicone to make them slick. There is no ice. Shouldn't be called ice skating.
