I normally only write reviews for extremely bad or extremely good experiences and as you can tell by my star rating, this is unfortunately a bad one. Yesterday evening (4/4/2018) around approximately 5:26PM (according to my receipt) I visited this TJ Maxx to return an online order that I had made. Before going to the store I made sure to brush up on the stores return policy for online orders where it states I would need my packing slip in order to complete my return. Not a problem, I came prepared with my packing slip that I received in my box.
As I walked up to the lady at Register #1 (also according to my receipt) I wasn't greeted with a Hi, Hello, How are you, How can I help you- nothing. I said "HI I have a online order I would like to return" and proceeded to pull the clothes and packing slip out of my bag. Her initial response was "Where's the plastic wrapping the clothes came in when you ordered it. How am I supposed to know what you're returning". Now, nothing online stated about needing the plastic wrapping my clothes came packaged in, so I was a bit confused given the fact that the description and size of the clothing is clearly stated on the packing slip. She then said with a clear inconvenienced tone in her voice "I'll just have to guess then".
At that moment as I stood in front of the register feeling like an uncomfortable nuisance, I thought back to my 20 year old self working in retail, which I realize isn't anyone's dream job, but I worked hard, kept a smile on my face and was always helpful to customers no matter how difficult they were (I don't consider myself to be difficult whatsoever). She told me that I'm only going to get store credit because I paid with paypal- no big deal. I got my gift card, she handed me the receipt and I was waiting for her to give me back my packing slip that had my other items on it, but she didn't. She said "I'm done with you". I reached over to grab my packing slip, smiled and left the store.
I thought about calling corporate but what's the point, it's probably difficult for them to do anything about it from headquarters. I instead decided to write this extremely long review in the hopes that it gets back to her. I have met some really nice employees at this store (which is why I am giving it two stars), but for fear of ever having to run into such a miserable human again in my life- I will make the drive to Crofton or Alexandria to visit another TJ Maxx. I hope whatever in your life that made you so unhappy yesterday gets better and I hope you never have the opportunity to spread negativity to...
Read moreTalk about having rude customer service. My mother and I wanted to have a nice mother and daughter day, we decided to come here. I was in one register and my mother in another all the way down, she was trying to pay for her items but the employee was wrapping the dishes in paper, that’s fine. My mother puts the money on the counter seeing that the employee is busy and she is trying to put her wallet in her purse. No harm in trying to get yourself adjusted right? Wrong!! The employee decides to stop what she is doing and tells my mother to put the money in her hands, in a rude way. Who are you to think you can do that to someone? You are in working hours, I’ve worked in a retail store before too, it’s not uncommon for people to put money on the counter. Get off your high horse and do your job. If a customer doesn’t want to put money in your hands that’s not a crime, just grab it from the counter and charge them because guess what? THATS YOUR JOB! Stop taking your frustration out on the elderly. It’s not their fault you have a miserable life. I didn’t know any of this happened until we left the store and...
Read moreI just had the worst experience at the checkout counter. The cashier, Tiera, was the WORST!!! She sprayed the counter with some spray and did not wipe it dry and actually had the audacity to have an attitude when I told her that I wasn't putting my items on the wet counter. I changed my mind about two items so I handed them back to her and she slammed them down on the wet counter, demonstrating a total disregard for the merchandise. Again, the counter was extremely wet, so I handed her each of the items that I was purchasing and she slammed each of them in the bag. Miss Tiera was determined that my stuff was going to touch the wet counter, so she purposely placed my bag on the wet counter.
This used to be one of my favorite T.J. Maxx stores, but if this is how the customers are allowed to be treated than I will just spend my money elsewhere. Better yet, T.J. Maxx needs to retrain Miss Tiera on the core values of being a store associate because she clearly does not have a clue. I was shopping at T.J. Maxx, not...
