Tropical Smoothie Cafe — Restaurant in Maryland

I have been coming here almost religiously. The quality of the smoothies are good for the most part. They make smoothies from fresh ingredients which is why I come. I had to go back to get my order redone a few times due to too much grittiness, wrong ingredient added or not enough of an extra ingredient in smoothies that I ordered in addition to the main ingredients. The Drive thru is EXTRAORDINARILY slow and can be more efficiently run. Most of the workers that I have come across are professional and courteous. Some not so much. I am mostly writing this review because on a few occasions I have had really bad experiences. Last week I walked into the place right up to the register. There was a girl sitting down staring towards the front door. I was literally standing right in front of her. There was no one in line but she did not acknowledge me for a while. I thought that she may have been waiting for something or someone...so I waited patiently. Then she turned to look at me and seemed shocked that I was there or still there. It was weird because I literally walked up to the counter from the direction she was staring at to stand in front of her. She then took my order no apologies or explanation for the unnecessary wait. On another occasion a male Drive thru worker put banana in my smoothie that did not list banana in the main ingredients and I did not tell him to put in in there. I turned around from I 95 to get the smoothie fixed. (I was headed to Virginia in traffic and thought I'd get something before it got too late for dinner) The guy in the drive thru went through the motions of remaking my smoothie. I am not sure if he really made a new smoothie or threw what I had given him in a blender to make it seem like he redid the smoothie because the "new" smoothie still tasted like banana. I was tired and given that he seemingly went through the effort to remake the smoothie I took it and went on my merry way. However the next time I ordered the same smoothie it tasted totally different...the way I expected the type that I ordered to taste. So I know that the guy either lied and gave me the same smoothie or they did not wash out the container used to make someone else's smoothie. I have had some good service from this location (I wish I knew the names of the worker who provided excellent customer service because I would definitely give them credit where credit is due) ....but the bad ones really do stand out. Regardless of your product, consistent Customer Service goes a long way to keeping...

I go here often due to it being so close to the gym. Some days it’s hit or miss but I’m writing a review today due to the immaturity and lack of professionalism the teens in the establishment have. The manager always speak when you enter but once she walked back the service declines. I go to the pick up counter where a young lady is on the other side but talking about what school she and another customer went to. She literally stops her conversation looks at me and decides to go do something else instead of inquiring or getting my order so I could be on my way. I said excuse me I’m here to pick up an order and stated my name another young lady says it just came through and she would prepare it. I politely let her know I ordered it 30 minutes prior so that couldn’t have been my order that’s when the first girl who didn’t want to even acknowledge me decides she wants to chime in and say “ well it just came through so she is making it” I ignore her take out my phone and tell the young lady I was talking to that my pick up time stated 2:45 and it was 3:30 could she double check the order which the other girl who first didn’t want to acknowledge me laughs and says we just told you it came through” the other young lady finally decides to check the order and asks me if my last name was Smith which I told her no which happened to be the order she was working on which they all assumed was mine. She finally goes to the fridge sees my already made order and gives it to me. The young lady that I was addressing apologized but the one who originally didn’t want to acknowledge me then add extra to a conversation she first didn’t want to be apart is now back to acting like she is making a smoothie instead of acknowledging she was loud and wrong. No one forced you to apply to the job so yes people are going to expect you to do it and efficiently if you don’t want to work there. No one wants to deal with attitude especially when they do their due diligence to give an establishment adequate time. Better training should be applied because these teens are a representation of management and the establishment and overall it makes you not even want to go there if you have to deal with sassy attitudes for no reason other...

Not my favorite Tropical Smoothie! I'll stick to Bowie location! They are entirely too slow at this location.

EDIT TO ORIGINAL POST: 3yrs later I came back hoping yall had a chance to get through the new business pains but uhhhh this location is the absolute worse!!!!! Your staff that was on duty 4/14/21 around 1:19pm - 1:45pm(when I got my order) need to be fired or re-trained! From the endless playing around behind the counter to the "jokingly" loud altercations amongst staff it was disheartening to watch. Especially when they are jeopardizing the business of the owner! I have NEVER waited 25 minutes in any other Tropical Smoothie for a Smoothie and a wrap. Don't blame Covid either! There was like 6-7 people behind that counter ultimately doing nothing but playing TF around and loudly engaging in personal side conversations when they could be seen and heard by all the customers standing in there frustrated and waiting. From my observation no one should order delivery from here the pick up drivers were in there longer than me so ordering ahead seems useless here! The multiple staff was lost behind that counter! Orders were being half made, no urgency from the staff either. It seemed like their usual behavior. Your staff is only as good as it's superiors and clearly the management and ownership here is non-existent! Yall are lucky Tropical Smoothie locations are so spaced out otherwise this store wouldn't make it based on customer service alone! I will say the Smoothie was good and the out of control staff did greet the incoming customers. Black businesses shouldn't have the stereotypes being lived up too. Please fix your...
