Today I witnessed an unacceptable interaction where a cashier, and then the store manager, both treated a customer with an inconceivable amount of condescension and disrespect.
I do not know who the customer was, but I present for the entire interaction as I waited in line, and the customer was not the aggressor in this scenario. The cashier was the only person SHOUTING in a condescending and aggressive tone. Once the store manager got involved, the customer made it clear she could understand why the return was not accepted, but took issue with the way she was being spoken to. The customer presented herself in a calm and factual manner, but instead of listening and de-escalating the conflict, the store manager was accusatory, placed the blame on the customer, and continued to lecture the customer in a patronizing tone.
During this interaction with the store manager, the Cashier began shouting again, in front of the store manager this time, and still the manager continued to take the side of the employee. They showed no empathy towards the customer, and repeatedly tried to ‘win’ the interaction by explaining why the customer was wrong. It was a bizarre escalation.
After the interaction concluded with the customer, I approached the store manager in another part of the store and asked for her name, letting her know I was going to escalate what I witnessed. I also did this in a calm manner. She refused to give even her first name, so I said I was going to take her photo to identify her. At this point I didn’t even have my camera out she became completely unglued. Instead of asking me to leave the store, she said she was going to call security. I didn’t try to take a photo in the store, and didn’t say another word. I left the things we were going to try on and excited the store immediately.
Once I was outside of the store, the store manager also left the store. This is when I took this photo outside of the store in the public area. When I told her that this was a public space, and it is not illegal to take her photo in the open mall area, she literally chased me down to the far end of the mall. She threatened to take my license plate number so she could file a police report, for taking her picture. She even waited while I went into another store for me to come out. I’d just like to be clear here, that the only threat I made, if you could call it that, was to escalate my concerns to the corporate office. And I was trying to leave the mall while she chased me down.
I’ve worked lots of retail jobs, and in almost every circumstance I would defend the retail employee. I know first hand that customers can be absolute AH, but this is not what happened here. The actions of the cashier, and then the store manager, were aggressive and quite frankly baffling to witness. The manner in which things escalated afterwards with chasing me down the mall concourse and threatening to call police were bizarre and unwarranted and proof that they just needed to “win” the interaction at all costs. I feel sorry for you, and I hope you get some counseling or the...
Read moreHonestly not happy with their customer service at all. Recently purchased some PJs, undees and a spray. I only got PJs because one of their staff members specifically told me they were all half off! Usually $69.99, now $35. So I decided to get myself some (wasn't planning on it at all) Then I got check out and the lady talks my ear off about my baby girl, telling me about her kids which was nice and I really enjoyed her. During the discussion I did not realize my total bill though. Got home and looked over my receipt to find out I was charged twice for my spray and did not get half off my PJs that the lady convinced me to buy telling me "All pjs are half off", there were signs with the pjs and everything. So I called same day to see if I could get some of my money back. Lady told me I had to go into the store to get refunded.
A couple days later I made it back to the store with my baby (drove 40 minutes to the mall as well) to find out the particular PJs I purchased were not on sale.
The manager on the phone failed to tell me this otherwise I would have brought the pjs back and returned them. I bought them specifically because of the sale. You also would think with me having to come back in for them double charging me that they would have taken care of me and given me half off the pjs anyways like the manager promised on the phone with me.
Watch your receipts and make sure you pay attention to what is actually on sale because it is very deceiving. Very unhappy with their level of customer service. Maybe go to a different VS if you can. Don't recommend...
Hope the $35 is worth a bad review. I am not happy and will be sharing this story...
Read moreWon't be coming here again. I was looking for a simple t-shirt bra and was directed to the back of the store by a (really nice) employee monitoring crowd control. As I was shopping with my mother, another employee with a blonde half-bob shaved on one side bolted to where I was and rudely asked if there was anything we needed help with. She stared us up and down, as if scanning us to see if we have stolen anything. We said no thank you and walked to the registers. She approached others in the store with the complete opposite demeanor. She then proceeded to follow us to the check out area and gave us a really nasty look again. Also--her mask was not on properly, it was below her nose. I felt very uncomfortable and judged for absolutely no reason. From now on I'll be going to Centerra VS, where they treated me with actual respect...
