Overall, the cost is not equivalent to the service. Long winded, but bear with me. I originally scheduled an appointment for a body wave perm online. I then wanted to change the date to try to get in sooner, so I called. A lady answered the phone with no greeting whatsoever, no introduction of the business name, just asked “Can I call you back?”. Strange but okay. Never got a call back. Called again the next day and asked to schedule for a body wave perm. The same lady then told me they do not provide this service. I explained that is strange considering they offer it online and I currently have an appointment scheduled for one. She then looked up my appointment and told me they can do the body wave perm on the scheduled date. I asked why she said they don’t offer those and she stated that only Igor does them so she was confused. Interesting. The day of my scheduled appointment I got a call stating they needed to switch my appointment from Igor to Tracy. I thought only Igor provided this service? They also moved my appointment time back. I came in for the perm and discussed what I wanted with Tracy. I decided on the purple rollers due to not thinking the bigger size (orange) would be enough curl for me. Tracy proceeded to use the orange rollers. The entire place was hectic - only 1 person doing hair, and then what appeared to be an assistant and a receptionist helping by doing services they clearly are not familiar with doing. Once my perm was finished setting, Tracy asked me if I liked it. This was only after rinsing my hair and half towel drying it. Needless to say, I had no idea whether I liked it considering the mess. I expressed this to her, so she put me under the dryer. Once dry, still a frizzy mess with no combing or product, she asked again. I again expressed how I cannot tell whether I like the perm considering it looks like a frizzy goldendoodle atop my head. She stated “Yes that is because there is no product”, while tending to another persons hair and not offering to attempt to use any product or style it. I can’t imagine why someone would expect their client to pay $300 for a service and let them walk out without ensuring it looks the best it could possibly look upon leaving. So I went home and waited a few days and washed it and used product and to no surprise at all, I paid $300 for my hair to look the exact same as when I went in. I’ve had perms from other places before (for cheaper) that turned out much better. I expected a curl expert salon to be able to provide a better perm, but I was wrong. My opinion would be to go somewhere cheaper because you won’t get better service just because you’re...
Read moreIt hurts to say that my latest experience has led me to believe this is an unethical salon that does not prioritize the health of the clients hair but prioritizes the profit they make, especially off younger impressionable clientele. I have come to this salon twice and my first time, I loved it. The environment was consistently welcoming and friendly for both my times. I once came in late August of 2023 (right before starting senior year highschool) and once in September of 2024 (right before my freshman year of college). My experience getting highlights with Tracy in 2023 was wonderful. She executed exactly as the picture she was shown, and walked me through each step to ensure that the results would be everything I wanted. She prioritized the health of my curls and the results were beautiful. I waited over a year to return back to the salon to get the highlights done once again after growing the last ones out. I booked with Tracy for an 8:30 but due to complications my appointment was moved to later in the day with Igor. I had no issue moving the appointment and was told that Igor was the “most experienced” and “highly ranked” hairstylist at the salon so of course I put my trust in him. This is where I made a mistake. He allowed my hair to be over processed. I came for my appointment on a Saturday and was there from 11:30 to closing time around 5 I believe. My hair was nothing like the photo I had shown before (which was the photo of Tracy’s work from a year before) so I was told I can come back Tuesday when they reopen to have it fixed. When I returned, my hair was already dry and brittle at this point but he continued to lighten and add color. I silently questioned what was happening to my hair but that is only my second time so I just trusted the process. Additionally he offered a cold chryo treatment (not 100% sure what it was called) to my hair which was supposedly to enhance my curls. I was skeptical but he told me it will be good because of the bleach. Looking back this was a money grab of an additional 80 dollars. This treatment was rushed and done in no more than 5 minutes. Another red flag was every time he dried my hair at the sink, he simply put a towel to my head and scrubbed in forceful circles. I have fine, delicate curls which should be treated with care but sadly I feel like they were not by Igor. Spent...
Read moreIt makes me sad to write this but I would hate to see someone have my experience. I had gone to a salon with my hair real long and they ruined my hair, then I went somewhere else and I felt they did not fix it the way like they could have fixed it if they had real experience with curly hair. Then I said let me go to "experts" which I looked online for Ouidad. Well I asked for the second owner I felt I would pay that amount for a Really good Cut. It was awful I said can you please fix my cut and told her what i was looking for, and told her i also do my hair straight so if she could blow it out. Her demeanor was not pleasant at all I would not care had she done a great job. Then i told the front desk almost in tears inside i was really unhappy with my cut, they told me to talk with Chad. Chad on the other hand was very sweet kind and tried to fix it and said I will take care the next couple of cuts on me... Well I went home and cried a bit more but thought okay at least he will try to fix it the next couple of visits. So I go in one time and it was cut and styled it looked good when I walked out. I did my hair curly for about a month, I went to a place where they gave me a Brazilian blowout. They told me my hair was very uneven, and square shape i did nothing about it. A couple weeks later I blowed it out myself, I seen it again how uneven and boxy it was so I emaild Chad to ask if he can please fix it. He said I want to help YOU Send me pics. That was the last time I heard from him, I sent the picks and nothing never heard back from him at all. I guess It makes me sad because I went to what i thought was the best and thought they would not make me feel that it was all about the money but rather to please... I really thought he was going to care more about pleasing a client so you can spread the word. The Moral of this story is the two top owners dont know to much about straight hair and blending it in plus texturizing it. You can not see a lot of imperfections when its curly unless its a good curly cut and straight is another story. A curly cut should be able to to look just as good straight. Im from Boston and have been to some of the top salons and even when they had not done the best job they always made it clear to come back at no cost till it was perfect.
