Jacques at the Fort-Lauderdale store was very nice to deal with and we had discussions on many things and this in both French and English. we mentioned that had made our choice for 6 dining room chairs. we then ask to look for a mattress to replace one of the two 39 inches that we had already. we made our choice and finalized the bill, and I have to admit without double ckecking it. The delivery was one 2,days later as agreed.. everything was dropped in the elevator lobby and still opened as agreed. my wife and I brought everything in our . Then we realized that there was 2 boxed mattresses . well packed in a strongly compressed plastic air tight bag. we opened one box to verify and let the other unoped. we called our sales Rep who after discussing with the manager, confirm they would take it back. It was already 5:50 PM and we were told that someone would call the day after to set the return. At the end of the following day I called at the store and a very kind sales Rep.told me that my Sales rep was off for two days and would leave him a message on Saturday but said that he verified with the Manager and everything was ok and that my Sales would re-confirmed same upon it’s return. that Saturday I waited all day for the call. Five minutes before store closing I called my Sales to confirm, that as mentioned, the pickup would take place the following Tuesday. I also mentioned that if more convinient for them I would t mind dropping the box to their store or warehouse. My Sales Rep to stay on hold a minute or so. After a long wait on the line he finally came back but mentioned that he was sad for us because Manager had changed his mind and would no longer agree for the return and the discussion ended there. I know that I probably spent $300 of my time for a $129 mattress but it’s a question of principle. This is not what I would call « »Customer Care » My order number is 759623 Thank you Nov 5-2025 after raising the issue with Better Business Bureau the issue has been rectified to my entire satisfaction. It was a long journey but Monique D team leader at City was very efficient. to that effect I changed my rating from 1 star to 4

If I could give City Furniture zero stars, I would. My experience has been an absolute nightmare. I purchased a sleeper couch, a chair, and several other items, including a dresser and a table, and everything has been a disaster from start to finish. Problem #1: I was never informed that my living room table was backordered. I only found out after waiting 2.5 months to receive it. When it finally arrived, it had a small crack. They sent someone to "fix it," and all he did was use a marker to make it less noticeable. Unsurprisingly, the crack reappeared a week later. Problem #2 (and the BIGGEST issue): My couch and chair started looking completely worn down less than a month after delivery. The edges were fluffy and misshapen, making them look like they were years old instead of brand new. When I called, they sent a technician who told me it was "normal wear and tear." Excuse me? Less than a month of use? After countless calls and back-and-forth conversations, I was finally transferred to a supervisor who said they’d "complementary" send parts to fix the couch and chair. When the parts arrived, I called City Furniture to schedule a technician, only to be told I’d have to pay for the technician! Adding insult to injury, when I emailed the supervisor to resolve the issue, I discovered they had BLOCKED my emails. After more frustrating back-and-forth, they sent another technician, and guess what? The parts were incomplete. I’ve now been waiting 3 months for these "replacement parts," only to learn the technician thinks the fabric itself is faulty and needs to be replaced entirely. Their solution? Wait ANOTHER two months for the correct parts. When I requested store credit instead of waiting indefinitely for their broken promises, they refused, claiming it wasn’t possible. Bottom line: City Furniture’s customer service is terrible, their products are low-quality, and their so-called "solutions" are just excuses. I’m stuck with furniture that looks awful and a company that couldn’t care less about making things right. Save yourself the headache and shop somewhere else.

We went to the Tamarac store, and while the salesperson was nice, we felt rushed into buying a coffee table and chandelier. The items were delivered on Wednesday, but we only had time to open the boxes today. As soon as we did, we realized both pieces were far too large for our living room. I called customer service right away, even sent photos to show how disproportionate everything looked. Their response? I could exchange the items but only if I paid a 15% restocking fee on a $1,600 purchase. They said it had been more than 24 hours since delivery, so that was their policy. To make things worse, the day after our purchase, both items went 15% off in a flash sale, and City Furniture refused to honor the new price. We’ve bought several pieces from City Furniture over the years, including our couch, and never had to return anything. But after this experience , the lack of flexibility, poor customer service, and unwillingness to work with loyal customers… they’ve lost us for good. Now I understand why the salesperson seemed in such a hurry to close the sale, I am sure he knew how strict and unfair the return policy is. Beware of their return policies and don’t let anyone rush you into a purchase. Then we receive a reply saying you want to make things right but unfortunately, that hasn’t been the case. All that happened was someone called me to repeat the same explanations and excuses I received before posting my review. I’m still being told I have to pay a 15% restocking fee, even though all I want is to exchange the items for something of equal value that actually fits my space and décor. It’s really disappointing, and you’ve lost me as a customer. Out of principle, I won’t be purchasing from your store again. I truly expected better service and accountability.

I purchased a bedroom set in February 2022. It is now 12/13/2022 and I still haven't received all of my items. I have had multiple failed deliveries where they attempted to leave broken and damaged furniture and get me to be the warehouse and hold them until they can find a new item to replace it months later. If you are brave enough to order from this terrible store. Open each box and inspect it thoroughly before the driver leaves. Do not sign for anything or feel rushed by them. They say you have 24 hours to report an issue. What they don't tell you is you have to hold that item until a new one comes in stock for them to deliver to your house and exchange it. You become their warehouse because they consistently ship broken and damaged products and refuse to pick them up. You can't even return it to the store yourself. If you do that cancels the order and you will need to purchase it again and drop down the massive, long queue of orders that they obviously can't fulfill for years due to a horrible quality control and mishandling of fragile and delicate items. Definitely need to work on getting all of their forklift drivers recertified as 3 products I have refused all had forklift punctures in the sides. The boxes were visibly punctured, and no one bothered to inspect them before delivery. Just ship them to the customer and let that be their problem. I for one will be taking my business anywhere else but here. Extremely disappointed by the lack of service, lack of quality and lack of assistance in resolving customer issues and complaints.

As you can see City Furniture followed up to my review. I sent the information and they apparently have an item to deliver to me magically. However, I am unable to accept the delivery on the date they offered due to holiday travels. Then when I asked for a future date that would work upon my return, they told me, I just have to call back to schedule since they can only provide a window 14 days out. What company requires the customer to call them to inquire about delivery? Shouldn't the onus be upon the vendor whom is taking my money to work with the customer to schedule delivery? Why do I need to call you? I have given you dates that work for me. You can't meet those so now I have to call you back to schedule my own delivery? Apparently City Furniture not only wants you to be their personal warehouse for their low-quality goods, but they also want you to be the dispatcher for their shipping...

Honestly, I am totally and utterly disappointed and frustrated with the customer service received here. My fiance and I were very easy customers. We came in and purchased a sectional in full, gave both of our info and were told the couch would be delivered in 2 days. The day of delivery arrived and passed and yet we still have no couch. The delivery driver was lost and called my fiance for directions. He then directed them to me and provided them with my information which should already have been available since I provided it at the store during purchase. I sent the driver my "pin" or "current location" and then directed him to my neighborhood. He then called me and said he needed to speak with customer service to confirm the address and would be in touch shortly. An allotted 40 minutes proceeded to go by and still no update was provided. I then attempted to call the driver as well as text him and no correspondence was given. My fiance attempted to communicate with the driver as well, while at work and was told a customer care representative would contact him. When they did he once again directed them to me. I had to leave for work so a friend offered to call off from his place of employment in order to help with this stressful situation. He attempted communicating with the driver and customer care and no help was facilitated. We did not even receive the decency to be notified that the delivery was being cancelled. Now comes the subsequent day and hours on hold and being transferred from person to person and I am told that all that can be done is a rescheduled delivery date A WEEK FROM TODAY!!! I am perplexed as to how a company such as this is still thriving with such AWFUL customer service! Especially in this time when employment is scarce, you would assume that better customer assistance as well as a rectification would be provided. I suppose that it is my fault to assume that when you purchase a good from a store to expect to still be treated with professionalism and decency after giving them your money. Now we have sold our furniture and have nothing for another week if we decide to wait that long. Not only that, but we were told that we would not receive a refund for 7-14 business days. This company is very quick to take your money, but seems as returning it is an issue. Save yourself the trouble and...

My Experience with City Furniture – Fort Lauderdale Location

I recently purchased a Wayne Dining Room Set from City Furniture in Fort Lauderdale, and what should have been a straightforward experience turned into weeks of frustration and unnecessary effort.

I was told during the sales process that all items were in stock. After completing my purchase, I was informed that the Wayne Mid Tone Buffet was backordered for over a month. The rest of the set was delivered a few days later — but the tabletop arrived damaged.

The repair technician who came out was professional and honest, confirming the tabletop could not be fixed and scheduling a replacement. Unfortunately, that replacement was canceled by text message with no follow-up or explanation from City Furniture’s customer service. I had to chase down answers on my own.

After multiple unreturned calls and emails, I eventually reconnected with my original salesperson, Ahmed Abdo, who was the only bright spot in this experience. Ahmed personally intervened to correct what customer service had ignored — he rescheduled the replacement delivery and helped issue a refund for the backordered buffet. His professionalism and genuine concern were appreciated.

However, the corporate “no returns” policy prevented me from returning a barstool that didn’t fit the space — a $284 item that ultimately cost City Furniture over $2,000 in lost additional sales, including the buffet, curio cabinet, and extra chair I had planned to buy.

As a longtime real estate professional in South Florida, I’ve worked with thousands of homeowners and always try to recommend local businesses. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I can’t in good conscience recommend City Furniture or Ashley Furniture to my clients or network.

The takeaway: City Furniture’s products may look great on the showroom floor, but their customer service policies and follow-up are deeply flawed. A company’s brand isn’t defined by its logo — it’s defined by how it treats people when something goes wrong.

Credit where it’s due: thank you to Ahmed for doing the right thing and caring about the customer when others in the chain did not.

I hope management takes this as constructive feedback — your customer service model needs serious...
