I purchased a bedroom set in February 2022. It is now 12/13/2022 and I still haven't received all of my items. I have had multiple failed deliveries where they attempted to leave broken and damaged furniture and get me to be the warehouse and hold them until they can find a new item to replace it months later. If you are brave enough to order from this terrible store. Open each box and inspect it thoroughly before the driver leaves. Do not sign for anything or feel rushed by them. They say you have 24 hours to report an issue. What they don't tell you is you have to hold that item until a new one comes in stock for them to deliver to your house and exchange it. You become their warehouse because they consistently ship broken and damaged products and refuse to pick them up. You can't even return it to the store yourself. If you do that cancels the order and you will need to purchase it again and drop down the massive, long queue of orders that they obviously can't fulfill for years due to a horrible quality control and mishandling of fragile and delicate items. Definitely need to work on getting all of their forklift drivers recertified as 3 products I have refused all had forklift punctures in the sides. The boxes were visibly punctured, and no one bothered to inspect them before delivery. Just ship them to the customer and let that be their problem. I for one will be taking my business anywhere else but here. Extremely disappointed by the lack of service, lack of quality and lack of assistance in resolving customer issues and complaints.
As you can see City Furniture followed up to my review. I sent the information and they apparently have an item to deliver to me magically. However, I am unable to accept the delivery on the date they offered due to holiday travels. Then when I asked for a future date that would work upon my return, they told me, I just have to call back to schedule since they can only provide a window 14 days out. What company requires the customer to call them to inquire about delivery? Shouldn't the onus be upon the vendor whom is taking my money to work with the customer to schedule delivery? Why do I need to call you? I have given you dates that work for me. You can't meet those so now I have to call you back to schedule my own delivery? Apparently City Furniture not only wants you to be their personal warehouse for their low-quality goods, but they also want you to be the dispatcher for their shipping...
Read moreHonestly, I am totally and utterly disappointed and frustrated with the customer service received here. My fiance and I were very easy customers. We came in and purchased a sectional in full, gave both of our info and were told the couch would be delivered in 2 days. The day of delivery arrived and passed and yet we still have no couch. The delivery driver was lost and called my fiance for directions. He then directed them to me and provided them with my information which should already have been available since I provided it at the store during purchase. I sent the driver my "pin" or "current location" and then directed him to my neighborhood. He then called me and said he needed to speak with customer service to confirm the address and would be in touch shortly. An allotted 40 minutes proceeded to go by and still no update was provided. I then attempted to call the driver as well as text him and no correspondence was given. My fiance attempted to communicate with the driver as well, while at work and was told a customer care representative would contact him. When they did he once again directed them to me. I had to leave for work so a friend offered to call off from his place of employment in order to help with this stressful situation. He attempted communicating with the driver and customer care and no help was facilitated. We did not even receive the decency to be notified that the delivery was being cancelled. Now comes the subsequent day and hours on hold and being transferred from person to person and I am told that all that can be done is a rescheduled delivery date A WEEK FROM TODAY!!! I am perplexed as to how a company such as this is still thriving with such AWFUL customer service! Especially in this time when employment is scarce, you would assume that better customer assistance as well as a rectification would be provided. I suppose that it is my fault to assume that when you purchase a good from a store to expect to still be treated with professionalism and decency after giving them your money. Now we have sold our furniture and have nothing for another week if we decide to wait that long. Not only that, but we were told that we would not receive a refund for 7-14 business days. This company is very quick to take your money, but seems as returning it is an issue. Save yourself the trouble and...
Read moreMy Experience with City Furniture – Fort Lauderdale Location
I recently purchased a Wayne Dining Room Set from City Furniture in Fort Lauderdale, and what should have been a straightforward experience turned into weeks of frustration and unnecessary effort.
I was told during the sales process that all items were in stock. After completing my purchase, I was informed that the Wayne Mid Tone Buffet was backordered for over a month. The rest of the set was delivered a few days later — but the tabletop arrived damaged.
The repair technician who came out was professional and honest, confirming the tabletop could not be fixed and scheduling a replacement. Unfortunately, that replacement was canceled by text message with no follow-up or explanation from City Furniture’s customer service. I had to chase down answers on my own.
After multiple unreturned calls and emails, I eventually reconnected with my original salesperson, Ahmed Abdo, who was the only bright spot in this experience. Ahmed personally intervened to correct what customer service had ignored — he rescheduled the replacement delivery and helped issue a refund for the backordered buffet. His professionalism and genuine concern were appreciated.
However, the corporate “no returns” policy prevented me from returning a barstool that didn’t fit the space — a $284 item that ultimately cost City Furniture over $2,000 in lost additional sales, including the buffet, curio cabinet, and extra chair I had planned to buy.
As a longtime real estate professional in South Florida, I’ve worked with thousands of homeowners and always try to recommend local businesses. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I can’t in good conscience recommend City Furniture or Ashley Furniture to my clients or network.
The takeaway: City Furniture’s products may look great on the showroom floor, but their customer service policies and follow-up are deeply flawed. A company’s brand isn’t defined by its logo — it’s defined by how it treats people when something goes wrong.
Credit where it’s due: thank you to Ahmed for doing the right thing and caring about the customer when others in the chain did not.
I hope management takes this as constructive feedback — your customer service model needs serious...
