Over a great place. Tori is super sweet and great with Men's cuts. Colleen is highly experienced and great with all styles. Beautiful salon. My last experience was really bad. I scheduled for a partial highlight and a trim.... so tryst me when i say ...Stay away from Grace. Far away.... especially if you have a pixie cut. After me trying to explain what I wanted, she scolded me that we we already 15 minutes into the session and she was booked solid for the day and we need to hurry up and start my highlights. It's important to note I had asked her to put up the hair around the crown because I was wanting it to grow and how I wanted it blended in the back to take out some of the bulk. The next thing I know she had cut my hair from top of my head all the way down to a quarter inch on the back of my head, including what I was trying to grow out and asked her to put up so it wouldnt get cut. Then when someone came over to "help" which there was nothing anyone could do at that point.... she kept saying... well she didnt want me to cut the top. She cut everything off.... everything. All I could say was, well... I guess we dont have to worry about blending now. It's awful. I've cried every day since. I leave in 2 weeks for a bucket-list trip. I can not express how much this has taken away from that excitement . I look like a 14 year boy who had his friends give him the 90's skater cut with dull kitchen scissors... not exactly the look I was hoping for. Colleen tried to even it out the best she could, but there wasnt much that could be done.
Baxter Beauty Bar is a great place with talented hair stylist and this experience isnt a reflection of the salon. I struggled with the rating because of this experience; Love the place, but what Grace did is absolutely...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy mother and I had lunch at the Fish Market for the first time, and Iām so glad we did. Afterward, we explored the surrounding area. It's a beautiful place with great shops and restaurants. We stopped into Little Shop on Market Street, where the owner was warm, welcoming, and very friendly. The shop smelled amazing, and she had wonderful gifts that we purchased.
Unfortunately, our experience next door at the Beauty Bar was the complete opposite. The woman at the counter never greeted us, looked over her glasses as if we didnāt belong there, and made us feel extremely unwelcome. The atmosphere was uncomfortable, and we felt clear discriminatory undertones. Itās heartbreaking that in 2025, as African Americans, we still encounter racism simply because of our skin color.
No matter how kind or genuine a person may be, prejudice blinds some from seeing beyond appearance. Itās truly sad, but I am confident that God sees all and will not bless behavior rooted in hate. For those who harbor prejudice, repentance is the only...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIām only commenting because I saw the post by Jill made about discriminatory behavior. I just want to give my first hand experience as a women of color and as a hair stylist trying to build clientele of color as well as all ethnicities . Iām not sure if Jill got the chance to walk around the salon and meet any of us but I would have loved to meet more people of color. It hurts to see us not getting a full view and jump to hurtful conclusions because we as a people experience that on a daily. I want to personally invite anyone to come in and get to know us. As a women of color it hurts my personal image and clientele for people to see this and it change their mind about getting a service from me. Letās all be able to have grace, the same way we have been given grace. Come to Baxter Beauty Bar to see what we are...
