I give this a 3.5 stars for now. I do plan to return.
We visited this new restaurant in Baxter as a party of four on a Saturday night. While the place is clearly still finding its rhythm, there are a few bright spots worth noting.
Despite making a reservation through the website, we still waited 20 minutes for a table. One hostess, Hailey, seemed to be handling the front on her own and was doing her best under pressure, but it was clear the staff was overwhelmed.
We had made a reservation online on the restaurant website and received a confirmation text earlier in the day. However, after we were already seated at our table, I received another text saying our reservation had been canceledâwithout any explanation. That was pretty confusing and left us unsure about what had happened behind the scenes.
We loved the decor inside. However, the music inside was uncomfortably loudânot lively or energetic, just too noisy. It made conversation difficult, and we found ourselves having to raise our voices to speak with each other and even to place our order with the server. That said, our server was excellent. She checked on us regularly, kept our drinks filled, and was very personable throughout the evening. Her service was one of the highlights of the experience.
Food-wise, there were definite highlights. I had the scallops and risotto, and they were excellentâperfectly cooked and flavorful. The pimento cheese balls were a standout appetizer, possibly the best Iâve ever had. They were eaten too fast for a photo. The bacon rack was okay - fatty and thick and needed more seasoning. On the flip side, my daughter found the chicken in the chicken and risotto dish bland, and the potato soup was too heavy on milk for our liking. My husband's steak was not a medium, but more of a well-done.
The prices are on the higher end, so itâs worth knowing that going in. That said, the manager did stop by to apologize for the delay in bringing out our main courses, and gave us a slice of chocolate cake to share - which was really tasty, and that was a thoughtful touch.
All in all, this restaurant has strong potential. Iâm especially looking forward to checking out the rooftop bar once it opensâhopefully by then, theyâll have worked out the kinks in service...
Read moreFirst off, be sure to ask for Owen if you can. He was an awesome waiter!! 5 stars for him alone! I have been wanting to try this place in Baxter village in Fort Mill South Carolina! The whole aesthetic of the steampunk style in this restaurant is awesome! I just loved looking around at the decor and watching the wait staff pass by my table with these smoky and bubbly drinks! Drinks that kind of emulated the feel of a science lab! So cool! I just knew I was in for a treat when I saw a neighboring table with this enormous hand rolled Bavarian pretzel. But we decided on the loaded potato nachos. I was really expecting their potatoes to be thin like a potato chip, I think they would have been a whole lot better if they were like that but who am I to say? They were cut thicker, more like a scalloped potato but they still were good. It reminded me more of a loaded potato skin. My boss got a bubbly cocktail that he didn't care for but he didn't take the time to read the description of what was in it, so serves him right đ . But it was certainly cool looking! We shared the filet mignon with their crispy brussel sprouts and mashed potatoes. Everything on the plate was delicious. Their beef is aged for 30 days or more and it showed, because it was fantastically tender. Everything on our plate was fantastic. This place has an overall cool vibe and great wait staff and a terrific location in the heart of Baxter village. Be sure to check it out. They have all types of fare on the menu. 12...
Read moreI have been so excited to come eat here ever since I saw them getting the place decorated and ready! Gabe was a BRILLIANT server! The filet mignon medium rare was so moist and deliciousâ not chewy at all! The espresso martini was delicious and my partner loved the Cheerwine beer đș. He said it was perfect how they got the flavor of Cheerwine without it being overly sweet. There were at least 40 draft beers to choose from that he was excited about. The Limerick soup was such delicious comfort food! Very similar to French onion soup but a little different. The pretzel and beer cheese were very good. The shepherdâs pie was delicious! There are so many things on the menu that look amazing so I canât wait to come back! The bread pudding was only OK. It was too firm and needed some caramel drenched all over it and to be softer. It was nice how they put some brown sugar and stuff on top of the ice cream. I just LOVE LOVE LOVE the atmosphere!!!!!!! This is the kind of restaurant that I would go on vacation somewhere to eat at so I am psyched itâs only 30 minutes away from me! We had done a Sherlock themed escape room before coming, which seemed to be perfectly in theme with the serversâ cute little vests! Iâve already got it mapped out what Iâm going to order on my next visit lol. They do take reservations and it was a 30 minute wait as a walk-in on a Saturday...
