UPDATE! We returned to Fish Market today and had a wonderful meal. Everything was great! The four of us had three delicious cocktails. Everyone ordered a different entree, and three enjoyed a cup of she crab soup. I have to be gluten free and was thrilled to find out that the sauce used on the shrimp and grits was safe for me to eat. The shrimp were perfectly cooked and tender. The chunks of ham and sausage were delicious! It was perfection in the bowl. Two people had eggs Benedict which they enjoyed and the remaining diner had the meat lovers omelet. He was happy that it was stuffed with a good variety of meats. We had a chance to meet Selena who was very gracious. Great place for brunch, and we are looking forward to coming back when we're in town again!
From October 28, 2033: We were a party of five adults arriving at 11am on this past Saturday morning. It was gorgeous outside, and we were looking forward to a lovely brunch. There were just a couple of other tables with occupants when we were seated. The ambiance was delightful, and we are looking forward to returning, but not with the server we had. He took our drink order and didn't write anything down. He returned with an order pad and took our drink order a second time. He returned for a third time. I ordered a bourbon blackberry smash, and he placed a wine glass with a light liquid and strawberries in front of me. It looked like white wine. I said I didn't think that was what I ordered, and he started arguing with me that the strawberries were a garnish, and if I really insisted that I wanted a new drink, he would order it, but he assured me that it was the drink I ordered. I didn't want to make a scene, so I reluctantly accepted what he insisted was my drink. He only brought three drinks out initially. A couple of minutes later, he came out and practically slammed my drink in front of me. That was when I realized that the drink he had originally put in front of me belonged to the person seated on my left. He also took our food order at least twice. Another 10 or 15 minutes go by, and he still hasn't brought the remaining drink out, but appetizers were being served to those who ordered them. I went into the restaurant to ostensibly use the restroom, but I let the hostess know that the remaining party was still waiting for his drink. I then went to quickly use the restroom. When I returned, the hostess I spoke with had just delivered the missing drink. A few minutes later, the hostess started bringing the food orders out. My lobster and crab omelet was chewy like it had been sitting for a while. We saw other people come in, get drinks and food and finish their meals before we were served our entrees. It was a dismal experience, but we are chalking it up to the server and not...
Read moreMy girls and I went out for brunch today. We decided to go to The Fish Market in Baxter Village in Fort Mill. We originally were going to go to Famous Toastery in Tega Cay but they had a 45-minute wait. We called The Fish Market and and they had no wait. When we walked in and got sat, we were literally the only people sitting on the inside. Things started off great. The Fish Market has a beautiful ambience and I was excited to try their food. We order a mimosa carafe a because they had it on special for $20. Our server informed us that we were just waiting on a carafe to become available for our mimosa carafe. I found it strange that they would be having a special with a shortage of the carafes and it was like maybe 5 tables sitting outside. 🤷🏾♀️ We then noticed that table beside us that got seated after us received their mimosa carafe. It was definitely ours. 🙄 Our server came over and apologized, she said another server stole our carafe and gave it to their table. She offered to bring us six individual mimosas, it was three of us. She said that a carafe usually equal 6 mimosas. Now that I do the math, that would be silly because the mimosas were $3 a piece if ordered separately. That means we could order 6 mimosas ala carte and only pay $18 instead of the $20 "special." We initially agreed because we were so thirsty and had been waiting for about 10 minutes or so. Then, she brought us the drinks annnnnddd the more we thought about we were like no and we changed our minds, we wanted the carafe. When we told her that, she snatched up our mimosas from in front of us. She didn't even ask us if we wanted to keep them. I found that quite strange and quite rude because I knew they could do nothing but pour them out and again it was $3. If she would have charged me $3 for that separate mimosa, I wouldn't have even been mad. It's the principle. Make it right, make up for your shortcoming. We spoke to the manager when she brought out soup and she offered a dry apology. I also ordered French toast as an appetizer to share with my friend. It was $8. It came out and it was literally two pieces of bread cut in half. It wasn't thick like Texas toast or challa bread. The taste was okay but it was cold. At that point, I was just happy to get some food. The she crab soup was delicious and when we finally got our entrees everything was hot and very tasty. I say when we finally got our food because three other tables that sat down after us all got their food before us. So all in all, the food was good but I was very annoyed with the service. I'm not sure if I would give them another try or not. Oh yea...the carafe ended up making like...
Read moreDate: July 28, 2025 My husband ordered the shrimp and grits dish as it was highly recommended by our very attentive and wonderful waitress that evening. Upon having a few bites of his dish, my husband felt something odd on his tongue. From there, my husband pulled out a metal nut from his mouth that was from the handle of the warming dish of the grits from the kitchen. We are so glad that he did not bite down on this metal nut possibly breaking a tooth or even swallow it and chocking! We immediately called our waitress over. She was shocked and retrieved the manager. Prior to his visit to our table, he checked in the kitchen and approached our table with knowledge of this incident. He even admitted that this happened 3 months prior to our incident. The manager said they really need to check these warming dishes in the kitchen since the tops are lifted up and down hundreds of times for loose screws and nuts!
The manager apologized. They offered to make a new shrimp and grits plate for him but he was very weary about eating anything else from the restaurant. Not to mention I was already finished with my meal and was ready to ask for the check.
When we received the bill, NOT one item on the check was comped. Not a drink, an appetizer, or compensation for the tainted meal that was less than half eaten. We were shocked!
We paid our check and left disgruntled, disappointed, and quite frankly blown away at the lack of accountability and responsibility the manager of the restaurant refused to take that evening. Very, very poor and unprofessional management for this establishment. Not only did this same scenario happen 3 months prior to our visit, but it did so again and it was as if it was just brushed aside like an "Oops, not again" attitude!
I really do not appreciate dining in $$ to $$$ restaurant and finding metal kitchen equipment in my cuisine. Really, once can be dismissed as a "fluke" but twice,...
