What has happened to customer service???
Very disappointed in my local Home Depot. I had a job replacing smoke detectors for a client and checked the Home Depot App. On the app I selected “Shop the Fort Oglethorpe location.” Then I selected “in stock at store today.” The first selection offered 4 Kidde hard wired detectors for $62.71. The entry indicated 7 available.
Based on that option, I headed to Home Depot to pickup two packs along with some other items I needed. In the store, the smoke detector bundle was marked as $74 and change. I went to the service desk and talked with a young man who said “that is only if you order online.” I showed him the app and pointed out that I had selected his store and the in stock option and asked him to honor the price. He told me that his manager’s policy was not to match online pricing. I was not asking him to match a competitor but to match his own company’s pricing. He became indignant like I was trying to get over on him or something. Twice I had to ask for his manager.
Finally the young man summoned the general manager(GM). Unfortunately, I did not get his name. The GM said he could not match the price and that was for online ordering only. Again I went through my spiel that it was their app I relied on when deciding where to get the detectors. The man had no customer service skills. No apologies, no attempt to understand my viewpoint, and no attempt to satisfy a disgruntled customer. When I pushed back harder he relented and said “just this time I will honor that for one of the bundles but not the other.” In frustration, I told him, “well, you just lost my business.” Still no apology or any other indication that he gave a crap.
After that I went to Lowe’s and picked up smoke detectors and my other items. In fact I spent over $250 there.

Read moreI usually don't leave reviews but this exciting trip to the local home depot deserves a review! I will start by saying I do not know anything about lumber, nothing! My husband told me what I needed so i placed the order online to be picked up. It was 14 pieces of ground contact lumber, that's all. I get there and pull in a spot, they call and tell me to move to the contractor area to pick up the lumber so I did. I sit there forever and ever and ever and ever and finally a man comes out with lumber but wait, it's the wrong order. I go to the customer service desk we get it "fixed" so I go back to the contractor area and wait and wait and wait and a sweet young man comes to tell me that he will be out to bring the order. When he comes out he is very upfront and tells me he doesn't know anything about lumber but they told him that it was the correct stuff. I helped him load up the lumber while he apologized 5 times even though it wasn't his fault. I get home, get half way through my project when my husband comes home and informs me it's the wrong stuff; it wasn't even pressure treated and I especially couldn't use it for ground contact. I called to talk to the manager about the situation mostly because I didn't want the young man who finally brought me lumber to get in trouble and the manager made it abundantly clear that he just did not care. My entire Saturday has been consumed by the half-way organized chaos called home depot. NEVER AGAIN will I shop there. The employees even seemed unhappy and aggravated. That in itself says alot. SHOP AT LOWES!!! If you absolutely have to go to home depot because lowes or ace or walmart doesn't have what you need, HAVE A DRINK FIRST....
Read moreWe called and asked if they had a product made sure the guy new what we was talking about asked 3 times before making a 30 minute drive with a trailer.We get there and they have not had the product in about 3 months I asked to speak to the store manager the guy said he was with another customer I said I would wait he left came back told me he couldn’t talk to me he was tied up with a customer and again I said I’ll wait he either needs to compensate us for the time and gas or someone needs to be reprimanded for being too lazy to go check on products he said well he can’t talk to you I asked where he was he said at a desk with a customer in the flooring dept. So I walk straight there he was not there I had to ask someone else to speak to him he immediately had an attitude so I also got one he did not apologize until I said you have not even apologized for this and argued with me of corse and he said that he did have time I would have had to wait and I told him I offered twice and he said the guy did not tell him that and basically called me a liar and when I offered to confront the guy he threatened to call the cops on me and the person I am speaking about who I was told was the store manager was the assistant manager Nathan! Horrible customer service all the way around from every employee I dealt with they obviously have each others backs and not there for the customer I will be escalating this...
