In the morning of 10/3/2020 I went to the Fort Oglethorpe Dollar General Market to pick up quite a few items. Before my visit I had loaded a lot of coupons on my account via online, including the weekly $5 off $25 they run each week. In addition, I had a $5 DG gift card (or so I thought) that I had received from DG due to their coupons not applying and/or applying correctly.
Once I got to the checkout, I entered my phone# so that my coupons would be applied. At first, it seemed to take - then all the sudden it logged me out. The nice cashier worked with me several times - I would try to re-enter my # and again, get logged out. She also scanned the DG gift card and it did not have the $5 it! People - this is what Dollar General has stooped to!
Next thing I know, I've got a female store manager, then tall male staff (security? I don't know who he was - but he was less than 2 ft from me WITHOUT A FACE MASK!) The female manager asked me what the problem was and I explained it to her, and she became a bit defensive. I made it clear that I understood it was not her fault, but there are real issues with their system. Her attitude and tone made me feel like I had done something wrong for just informing them of the problem! I let them know I would not be purchasing the buggy full of items without being able to get credit for all the coupons I had loaded.
After seeing real quick that this was going nowhere fast, I told them that I would just take my business elsewhere. I exited the store as was hobbling to my car, when the male employee (again-no mask) approached me and asked if I was still interested in purchasing the items, the manager said she would manually adjust the total for my coupons. He asked me "So how much do you think the coupons you have on your account come to?" So on the spot - with the numerous items - I'm trying to calculate my coupons in my head, but the guy would not stop talking and was very patronizing. I couldn't think straight and was trying to get him to hold on so that I could give him an accurate $, but he raised his voice to me and said "Mam - DON'T YOU SHUSH ME!" That's when I told him I never want to do business with the likes of them ever again. I'll take my business elsewhere! I told him that I was an old disabled grandma and I'm no threat - and I do not need to be treated this way - and HE LAUGHED IN MY FACE! People, this is PURE EVIL!
Once I got to my car - I was so upset I just burst out crying. I don't know how I held it together as long as I did. Not to mention it takes a lot out of a person with a physical disability to shop in general. Now all my efforts went down the drain.
Now - I am upper in age and suffer from more than one disability - including heart disease and osteoarthritis. I always wear my mask and do my errands early in the morning to avoid Covid-19 exposure to the best of my ability. For an employee at this store to approach a customer, without a face mask and not social distancing and treat them this way is beyond reprehensible! Food City is across the street - I spend over $100 that after I pulled myself together.
BEWARE! This store is horrible. Take your...
Read moreTHE WORST customer service Iâve ever experienced every single time I go there. There is always one line open with 10+ people in line and another employee will open a register for 1-2 people and then go back To outside to her cigarette (they are always smoking cigarettes) or gossip with another employee or customer. They are always short staffed probably because there is a âcliqueâ vibe going on with these women. They are ALL so RUDE and LAZY! They will literally stand there and watch as the lines fill up and just talk. They are poorly stocked most of the time, but the main issue is the employees. Any retail Iâve ever worked, I was taught that you stop what youâre working on/end the conversation youâre having to help the customer. I go in there expecting to leave in a couple minutes, but Iâm there for at least 20 minutes. Itâs ridiculous and I donât think itâll ever change.
Also, the store it filthy. Especially the entrance. Just stop giving this store your money until they change things! NEED NEW MANAGEMENT FAST!
Update: 4/23 Against my WAY better judgement, I had to come back. This time it was worse. I even called the corporate office and itâs 100% worse. GOSSIPING HENS. The elderly lady just had to grab her co worker and tell her a story about another co worker while ringing up someoneâs stuff and messed up and didnât see a sale price and had to call for help and make us wait even longer. She has had to call for help FOUR TIMES. This is insane!!!!!
Update: 4/24 Today was fast as lightening! In and out in 8 minutes! Waiting In line and I hear âI can get whoeverâs next on 3 or 4!â...
Read moreThe service here is generally good. But today I bought some items, the cashier handed me my bags and I went home. But when I got home some of my items were missing. I tried calling before making the trip back up there but after a couple hours of a busy signal while I made sure I wasn't overlooking them I drove back the 10 miles knowing I had another 10 back, all wasted miles if they were not there. Upon arriving I asked if I had left an item behind and the one that helped check me out said she didn't know, the guy there said they were in the cooler. I asked why I kept getting a busy signal and they said the phone was broken. So how is a business functioning with a broken phone? Don't they sell phones anymore or is it a phone service problem? This makes no sense to me. But hey I was soo "lucky" to get to pay for gas in my truck to drive the 20 miles to get something I already paid for but the cashier forgot to give me. Thanks for all the extra effort to help. Since u bag them on your side I only know I have...
