T.J. Maxx — Local services in Fort Smith

Hi, I’m going to start off by saying I never complain. This is my first complaint I have ever sent in the 31 years I have been alive. I am so furious. I went to the store here in fort smith Arkansas, I arrived around 9. Giving us about thirty minutes to quickly shop for what I needed. I don’t live near a store so my drive is about an hour to get here. About five minutes after arriving they announce that the store was closing in about twenty minutes. I was in the very back with my two small children and the store turn the lights out. At first I thought this was a mistake but no, not at all they just turned the lights off. I had two small children who was scared because of this. They turned the lights off 20 minutes before closing not two but twenty minutes. I get it they are wanting to go home but to turn the lights off a on 20 or so people that was in the store is massively unacceptable in customer service. They were rude and rushing people out. I couldn’t even see to get the card and pay for my stuff because there was no dang lights on. What if my kids knock a glass shelf over because hey when they turned the lights off we were in the glass isle. Or how about I lost one of my children because I couldn’t see. Or hey what if I would have fallen or worse my kids would have fallen. My anger right now at the situation it astronomical. Something should be done about that, that is not how a business should be...

Today I went into TJ Maxx in Fort Smith and I had my support dog with me- so I went ahead and hesitantly brought her in because I know how people can judge the situation. I needed to just quickly pick out some bedding for my daughters. Walked in, saw the manager and she gave me a look but said no words to me. I proceeded back to the home department looking at bedding with my wife when we noticed a customer right next to us in the pet section playing with squeaky dog toys for an awfully long time. Even went so far as to slightly extend the toy out to my dog in an attempt to get her to misbehave I believe. Thankfully she is very well behaved. After shopping, we proceeded to the check out area where we noticed this same customer talking and laughing with the manager we saw when we walked in. She had a friend with her as well. The three of them were talking and laughing about how the customer from earlier was over there playing with the dog toys in an attempt to make my dog bark so we would get kicked out of the store. The manager seemed pleased with this as if she was conspiring with them in an attempt to get us kicked out even though we kept to ourselves and also bought quite a bit of merchandise. Needless to say I am going to think twice about going here again if that is how they feel about treating customers who have spent hundreds, if not thousands of dollars in their store...

T.J. Maxx is a discount retailer. That means they carry quality name brands like Polo and Calvin Klein at a reduced price. They primarily focus on women. They offer a wide variety of home decor, such as; curtains, pillows, decorative bedding, small furniture, kitchen wears and wall fixings. They have an equally large selection of women's clothing. They sell jewelry as well as shoes (for all ages). They have menswear as well, though their selection is a bit limited. They have a dressing room and I believe layaway as well. They keep the store neat and it isn't difficult to find what you want. That's high praise considering the fact that I've never seen less than thirty people in the store. The associates could use some coaching in sale's floor etiquette - they aren't rude but they won't approach you and ask if you need assistance.
