Normally we enjoy going to Macy's, but today Bruce the cashier in the men's department decided to ask if my husband would like to "upgrade" his card. My husband was very clear that he did not want another inquiry on his credit report, to which Bruce assured him multiple times that it would not put an inquiry. My husband also told Bruce multiple times that he did not want a hard pull on his credit, to which Bruce said "oh, it is not a hard pull, it is softer than a soft pull". Eventually, my husband agreed to do it as Bruce assured him it would not be a hard pull nor a credit inquiry, but instead would just be a simple upgrade of cards. Well, almost immediately as we walked out of the store, he had a notification that he just had not only an inquiry, but a hard pull on his credit report from Macy's.
I understand that Macy's wants their employees to push their credit cards because they do not have to pay all of the service fees then, and the employees want to push them in order to receive their cash bonuses that they get for signing customers up, but it is really poor practice to not train your employees on the facts of the application such as being a hard pull and placing an inquiry on the customer's credit reports. If the employees do know this and are lying to the customers about it, not only is that unethical and immoral, but it is also fraudulent misrepresentation. You are lying to customers in order to get them to sign a contract, which makes the contract invalid and is setting Macy's up for a lawsuit.
This is completely on Macy's for either not training their employees on the process of applying for these cards and the cons that come along with the application process or for allowing their employees to flat out lie to customers. Either way, Macy's needs...
Read moreNo idea how they have a 4.1 star review. The customer service is horrible, Their attitudes are worse than that of a drunk lady at a bar, English isn’t their first language and they can barely understand you when you are talking English, They have no intentions of making a sale if you are not the image they want you to be. I am a 21-year-old plus size woman that brings in $7000 a month, But because I was wearing a $30 tank top a $30 pair of pants and a set of crocs because my shoes blew out, I had a security lady come over and start standing right on top of me while trying to figure out what size shoes I needed with intentions of spending at least $120 on just a pair of shoes or boots. When I asked her what sizes they offer she just goes no no no no in crappy English, And then didn’t want to offer me any shoes at all in my size from the back. I am A short, disabled, plus size woman, and the thought of suing this store for discrimination sounds like a walk in the path. I watched a group of teens walk out of Macy’s with clothes stuffed in their jackets but because they were slim and natural, this broad just watched them walk by. That alone would guarantee me a win in court. When I originally came in, I walked past atleast 4 people and was IGNORED COMPLETELY even while trying to get their attention, so I went into Glenbrook mall for better luck but it was late. To have the ONLY greeting from this store be non-English, crappy rude customer service proves that Macy’s needs to take the Star off their symbol because they don’t even deserve THAT. My ratings on this store are: NOT DISABLED FRIENDLY NOT PARENT FRIENDLY NOT PLUS SIZE FRIENDLY NOT CONSERVATIVE PERSON FRIENDLY NOT SHORT PERSON FRIENDLY NOT DYED HAIR FRIENDLY NOT CUSTOMER SERVICE FRIENDLY NOT...
Read moreWorst experience ever. Bought cologne back in December (as a birthday gift) and they were supposed to engrave it. Sent someone to pick it up (the day before the birthday) and Macy's couldn't find it. So, they replaced it (so I thought) with the promise that i can bring it back for the engraving. I give the gift and find out that it's not what I originally bought. They gave me whatever they wanted to give me. So, I had to take it back again. They didn't have it in stock so I purchased it and had it shipped to me. I finally received it in January and took it in to have it shipped off for engraving. It was supposed to have a name with a heart before and after the name on the front of the bottle. When I finally got it back in February, it was done horribly. It just had the name and it was on the back. No call to ask if I was ok with changes prior to them doing it. When i questioned it, they just said that they could no longer do what I requested. When I asked why didn't I get a call 1st so that I could decide if I still wanted it or not, they had no answer. Very poorly done and doesn't look professional at all. Worst job I've ever seen. Never buying from...
