I chose Panther City Jewelers because of the other reviews, and I am here to say they are all correct! I came in hoping to get my ring “upsized”. This ring is high karat gold, very delicate, very light, and easily bendable. It already had plenty of dents in it from wearing it to work (nurse). Mr Alex explained the process of stretching to enlarge the size. We spoke in detail about my options, what might happen, how he would fix it if it did break, etc. He felt pretty good about stretching it up by one size. We sized the finger I wanted it on, and I was about to commit when he remembered me saying I was a nurse. He said he suspected I work in cold environments, which is true! My hands are always cold, and that affects sizing. We double checked sizes again, and went with a 7.75 instead of an 8. What a thoughtful suggestion, and it fits perfectly!
I picked up my ring the very next day, and I was so impressed at the quality of his work! He even straightened out the dents! My ring has a personal story behind it, so naturally I was apprehensive about work being done. But now, I plan to bring him my grandmother’s ankle bracelet (prob from the 1930s) to fix. I can’t say enough good things, I would trust him with any piece of jewelry, because he is honest about what he can/can’t do. Oh and being cheaper than the quotes I got certainly didn’t hurt ;) And he offers complimentary cleanings!
If you’re questioning where to go like I was, choose Panther City Jewelers because the quality is amazing, the price point is very fair, and most of all Mr. Alex is a good, honest person.
Ps. Occasionally I think he has to run out for work errands, so I would recommend calling first to make sure he is there. That’s not a negative in any way, just a...
Read moreI had my ring resized at a different local jeweler and the job was not what I hoped for, instead of going back to the original place, I went in for a second opinion and hopefully to have it fixed at Panther City Jewelers.
I explained the situation clearly, but instead of focusing on the issue at hand, Alex kept asking where I got it done, which was irrelevant with the situation. Even though he "agreed" with me about the flaws on the ring initially, he changed his attitude immediately right when I said the person's name who altered my ring. He asked me if I were an "engineer" and why was I too focusing on the "human errors". I thought that was weird but later I found out Alex and the other local jeweler were "friends" so it makes sense.
Because the other jeweler told me that after I left, Alex called him up and said "your customer (me) came in to complain about your previous job and that I made no sense whatsoever." To be clear, I never complained but instead only asked for a second opinion to see if the flaws could be fixed. I supposed that's considered complaining.
Good thing that I sensed to not trust Panther City Jewelers and left before the owner could make more damage to the ring. For reference, here are the pictures of the actual ring I brought in for Alex's opinion and he then claimed that there was nothing wrong with it. I'm no jeweler but if your expertise is to work with jewelry but went out of your way to "protect" your friend and say that his work was "the best in town", I'm speechless. I wonder what you could have done...
Read moreI found this great little shop in my neighborhood by chance though I have driven past it a million times. I had a few thigs I needed done that I wasn't sure what it would cost, or if it would be possible at all. The team here was so friendly and efficient. I had them polish and clean an engenement ring I was selling & that was done same day. I had them do a repair on a watch that I was sitting on for a year since I couldn't find a store to take on a " smart watch" repair, that was completed the next day. When I came back for those two items I dropped off a ring I wanted sized up three sizes. This was done beautifully and in a timely manner as well. Every service I had completed was very reasonably priced and they are now my " I know a...
