What a disappointing and eventually infuriating night. This is where my wife decided to throw my birthday party and we had guests from all over who got sitters, even one guest flew in.
For starters, the outside section reeked of dumpsters everywhere, and the fans were blowing it around. The smell was putrid and the staff seemed oblivious.
Second, our waiter was slow, inefficient, inattentive, and forgot stuff constantly. She seemed tired, and didn’t want to be there. The burger was bland and boring and I had to ask for ketchup 3x after ordering it.
The rest of the staff is very off putting. Face and neck tattoos, excessive piercings, no natural hair colors, dressed in pajamas, no drive, no willingness to offer help outside their section. I’m not one to be turned off by these things, but the general public definitely will be, so weird business model if you ask me.
The real kicker though, my friend with a lisp (he’s very self conscious of) was rudely cut off after 2 drinks in front of everyone. We asked why, surely there’s a mistake. She said bc he has signs of intoxication. I asked her what those signs were and she stated he had slurred speech (a guy with a lisp!!!!!). I pleaded with the manager and the waitress, but they blindly stood by their discrimination. The bags get wasn’t even willing to come to the table and assess for herself. We payed our bill, and I’ll definitely state there was zero gratuity from a group that tips 30% standard (we all use to be servers and valet). That is a ~$130 tip for the waitress she didn’t get, and I’m curious if TBL compensated her as this was largely their blunder. Then the manager had the audacity to ask us to leave after the bill was paid, as if we intended to stick around. We feel wronged and that’s not even the end of it.
That waitress aired her dirty laundry to other tables and visibly cried. Those patrons got a skewed version of the story and then confronted us directly coming to her defense. It almost ended up in a huge brawl at nickel city and was 100% avoidable. This to me is a durable offense, and is completely unprofessional.
I’m seeking a response from the owner of this restaurant to discuss unchecked discrimination and recklessnes that put me and my friends in danger.
We will not ever return to bearded lady, and I will make it my purpose in life to make sure others don’t go as well. I’ve never had such an embarrassing and upsetting restaurant or bar experience...
Read moreWe came in this morning right at open for Galentine’s day brunch. We were so excited for the cute Valentine’s Day specials. The raspberry sorbet champagne float was so cute and tasty. Unfortunately what wasn’t cute was our waitresses demeanor. She was obviously not happy about serving my group, which was simply myself, my 4 year old, and another adult female. Our waitress was so flat when speaking to us, one word answers. Brought waters for the table, a covered lid for my kiddo, no straw for him. Accidents happen especially at the beginning of the shift, so I asked for straws. Either she didn’t hear me or she ignored me. We had to ask again later and ask for enough silverware for everyone at the table. She seemed annoyed that I asked what drink specials they had, tapped a QR code on the table HARD and said scan it the walked off. Rude. So rude. If you know the drink menu give me a run down, and refer to the QR for the food menu. It took forever for her to come back. I asked if I could get a single pancake for my kiddo, it’s not about the cost it’s about how much he’ll eat and not wanting to waste food. She turned around and walked off. We watched her go to the bar so I’m assuming she was asking someone. She comes back and advised it’s only an order of two. I asked could we just add an extra pancake on the special order, she said no so flatly. Fine, the problem isn’t they only come in an order of 2, the problem was her demeanor. She came back to check on us but again her demeanor is flat. We were there an hour, not a single time did she smile or interact positively with us. Waiting on our table seemed like a chore for her.
Mind you, I’ve been in to the Bearded Lady 5-6 times since last year. Every other time service was great.
This waitresses vibe did not pass the check.
As far as the food, the Red Velvet pancakes were a little over cooked (almost burnt) but overall were tasty enough. Eggs were eggs, hard to mess up. My friend loved her burrito and tots. Visually it all looked great. Maybe next time we just stick to take out of this is the new level of service provided.
As far as cost, it’s wild to me that subbing bacon for eggs is an up charge when Bacon is more expensive to purchase than eggs. But it...
Read moreMy friend and I walked in the restaurant’s door (after walking past the outdoor seating area with a gravel floor, a stage for live entertainment, picnic tables, a couple of high top tables, plastic and wooden Adirondack chairs, all covered with stringed bulb lighting), and found ourselves a nice booth, and we sit. We find ourselves in a high ceilinged industrial space that looks thrift store chic. There are butcher block tables surrounded by mismatched chairs, live plants everywhere (the Christmas cactuses near us could’ve used a little sip of water), liquor basket, lighting, hanging from the ceiling, cactuses painted on the walls, along with some other, very interesting artwork, and a beautiful bar with 25 draft pull handles, a beer lovers dream. Josh! I knew he was going to be great when he arrived at the table carrying two huge glasses of ice water. It was around noon, Texas afternoon and a water was just what we needed at that moment, beer would’ve been better, but we hadn’t gotten that far yet. We chatted with Josh about beer, we both started out with a Lager that had a beautiful coconut finish, that last flavor that comes through a few seconds after you swallow your beer. The menu was plentiful and fairly priced, we ended up with roasted brussels sprouts, and a bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwich with avocado with a side of tater tots and queso. Joshua was great throughout our visit, keeping track of us, always there when we needed him, but not hovering, making sure that second beer came right away.
I thought I had way more pictures, but the two will lower the only ones I could find on my phone. I guess the rest are filed away in my memory.
If you’re looking for a chill, laid-back place, to stop in for lunch, or dinner I imagine, give this place a shot. It’s definitely worth the time, the money, and I’m sure the staff will make you feel right at home. Oh yeah, if the company you come with is a little boring they’re a bunch of games that they have that you can grab and...
