The truth about RUMMELL Jewelry... First, we don't live close to Drew-and-Co. Matter of fact, we live a few states away in a city teaming with money, glam, glitz, plastic people, pawn shops, and jewelry stores; Las Vegas. Going out of state to shop for the perfect custom wedding set was deliberate. It just felt 'right' to work with a reputable designer in the shadows of the Colorado Rockies! Rummell Jewelry, thankfully, was where we landed!
The store is quiet, clean, and inspirational; nestled in a small strip mall tucked neatly in a nice neighborhood. Displays are well lit, and nicely arranged. Behind the counter logistics are completely exposed and quite impressive. The initial greeting is not loud, boisterous and desperate, or overly mundane and dutiful. Everything feels and looks just right!
Drew is calming and patient gentleman. He answers questions when asked and adds little sales-driven elaboration. He listens and even takes notes with obvious care. He communicates with such ease, you forget he was a stranger as you first walked in. Plus, he doesn't strut around with a gun strapped on his hip like the unfortunate trend seems to be.
"Custom" isn't a deal-breaker, a checkbook-killer, or a massive investment of time at Rummell. Ironically, due to an illness in our family, our wedding date moved from several months to several weeks, and that didn't seem to phase Drew at all. Within just days, we saw our first rendering which incorporated ALL of our suggestions and inspirations almost as if he was reading our minds. Two tweaks later, and a volley of emails, our ring was designed. BUT, now came the price...
What was expected was justified, but potentially a bit painful for our budget. What was invoiced left me feeling almost a little guilty considering the talent, time, communication, and care Drew-and-Co. showed us from the moment we walked in! However, we had not seen the finished product yet.
Guilt aside, we waited for our masterpiece to be constructed and presented for our approval. In the past, wait times for a custom piece, could require 300+ days...and that was considered reasonable depending upon the complexity. Our needs were not particularly complex, but our calendar would not have worked with 'past' estimates of time, even with a more simple design.* Again, this is where Rummell Jewelry far exceeded our expectations.
Delivery day was sensational to say the least. To be completely immersed in the napkin-drawing-to-completed-wearable-art process, was thrilling and rewarding! Our shooting star-inspired wedding set turned out beautiful right down to the very detail in the stardust tail! My ignorance, early-on, figured this would be a simple and easy piece for a jeweler to build. With just a little education and high magnification, I was, admittedly, misinformed.* Gentle rounded edges for comfort; reinforced settings on high-value stones; balanced weight and shape to prevent inadvertent rotation, and unique and tasteful artistry that compliments our love for each other! It's a one-of-a-kind, and so are we!!!
Our actual wedding day is less than a week away. We added a phenomenal set of custom earrings to match the wedding ring just a few weeks ago, and even that was designed, built, and delivered, with time to spare. I am not saying that rushing any craftsman is wise or cheap...and results may suffer if you do. BUT, we gave Drew some dates and asked for his very best. He made ZERO promises, yet he delivered 1000%. You can't imagine how happy we are to have traveled the distance to meet one of the nicest, and amazingly talented individuals, you'll ever meet in the world of jewelry. Thank you, Rummell Jewelry! Read moreThere are obviously a lot of choices for a jeweler in downtown Denver. When I started looking for someone to design a custom engagement ring for me I went into a building that had three jewelers. The first two we bigger stores with huge display cases and pushy salesmen. Then I went into Glasmann and Hanson and met Drew. The store is quite small and there isn't a lot in the display cases but don't let that turn you away. They are capable of designing anything you can come up with.
I spent hours in the store with Drew asking questions about how to shop for jewelery and how to design a ring. Drew has the ability to design anything from scratch or modify an existing template. We went through just about every type of setting, metal and stone. Drew carefully explained the pros and cons of each one and helped me decide which one was right for me. After countless iterations and dozens of emails back and fourth I finally decided on a ring. For the record, Drew was able to take my general ideas and design a 100% custom ring from the ground up.
After paying Drew gave me a date about 2 weeks out to expect the ring. It came in on exactly the day he said and I was completely blown away. It looked amazing and exactly like it did in the pictures. I couldn't have been more pleased.
On a professional level Drew was an incredibly talented jeweler and designer with great taste. On a personal level he was wonderful to work with. Not only did he never pressure me to buy before I was ready but he practically deserves an award for putting up with my indecisiveness.
The whole experience was perfect and I can't wait to go back and order the...
Read moreI have been to Glasmann and Hanson many times and have always received excellent customer service and care, but ever since Drew has taken over I've been thoroughly dissapointed. I took my daughter's ruby that I bought her for high school graduation to be sized and Drew said the prongs were loose. He told me to leave the ring until he could fix it. After about a month when I hadn't heard from Drew, I decided to stop in and he said he hadn't had time to fix it. (On a different occasion, I left another ring for him to sell for me, he never called and one day I stopped in and he told me he sold the ring. It was as if he was hoping I would forget about the ring and not come back to claim my money.) I told him I wanted to take my daughter's ruby elsewhere and he asked me to give him another week to fix. Again, he never called. I stopped by to check on the ring after another 3 weeks and it was finally done, but when he brought out the ring it was not sitting in the setting correctly. It was slopped and sitting sideways and the ruby had many scratches on the surface. This was a brand new ring, never worn by my daughter and Drew said the scratches were already there when he got it. Not true! It had never been worn! Drew didn't show any remorse and had the audacity to charge me!! He completely messed up my daughter's ring! It's ruined and she won't wear it. It looks like it's been thrown in the street and run over by a truck! I will never go back to...
