I've been doing business with Bass Pro and Cabela's for a number of years and it really disappoints me to have to write this as I've never had a problem until the last couple of months. I received a $500 gift card for performing work for a customer and they asked where I would like it for and I mentioned Bass Pro as I'm an outdoor person and also maintain a a collection of firearms. I understand that ammunition is very hard to come by for certain calibers so I've been just monitoring for when some come into stock, for reference, I live four miles from one of their locations. I checked the website online one day and it stated that the ammunition I was looking for was in the store so I took a ride over right away. I went to the gun counter as I couldn't find what I needed on the shelf. I was told they had none and wouldn't be getting any for "a while". I said on the website they said it was in stock and was told that website is always wrong. Great! So even your own employees denigrate your public facing website. I asked when any shipments would come in and he said who knows? Awesome answer. I decided to upgrade my single press reloading kit which I inherited to a progressive one the Hornady progressive press. I went online, used the gift certificate, ordered no problem and got a date of October 9th delivery. I wake up today and receive an email that the order was cancelled due to it being out of stock?!? As well as the "no estimate to when it will be in stock as well as the standard boiler plate so sorry. In the last two months, I've looked online and saw ammo in stock at the location, called and they said there are none. I'm now batting 0-4. I reached out to ask if the gift certificate could be returned and credited back to the purchaser, nope, even though the purpose of the card was to purchase the ammo press. I basically used it up online and purchased $500 dollars of overpriced items that I needed but could have gotten elsewhere cheaper. The reason I use Bass Pro or Cabela's is because if I truly need something they have it and don't have to worry about not finding things because they are not the cheapest in town. I have literally gone to five different sites where I can purchase the press and in one case $50 cheaper. My final thought is beware of the website as it is useless and that is direct testimony from their own employees not just me and don't ever try to get flexibility with them, they won't budge. Unfortunately, after the last two months of continual disappointment, I will no longer do...
Read moreNormally this store is absolutely fantastic. However today I have had probably one of the more disappointing and dangerous experiences I have ever had at any store. I recently inherited an older compound bow when a family member passed away. I do not know a lot about bows. I called ahead and asked can someone help me with an older compound bow with what it is and look it over to determine if it is safe to use or not. I showed up after calling and well it went very poorly. The conversation went as follows.
ME - Hi can you please help me with this bow I don't know anything about it and I would like to know if it is safe to use. I know next to nothing about archery.
Archery employee - Its an older compound bow I cant get parts for it. Just go to the range and shoot it.
Me - Ok can you please just check it over for safety? I don't know how long its been sitting and I am unsure if it is safe to use.
Archery employee - Just go shoot it if you are that worried go shoot it at Xspot archery they just opened because its noon and you can shoot for 12$
Me - walks away because clearly he doesn't care or want to help me.
Attached is a picture taken in Xshot archery of South Attleboro of the bow in question. They took the time to actually look at the bow and determined it was incredibly unsafe to shoot as both cable ends are corroded and cracked as pictured. Meaning if I pulled this string back and put it under tension this cable end would have come off and been shot off the bow with the strength of a 65 lb draw, more than likely hitting me in the face or neck in the process of heading into the abyss at high velocity. So yeah maybe when someone tells you to just go shoot a bow, get a second opinion first, it could save you from potentially very bad injury. Thanks to Xshot archery for un-stringing this very unsafe bow for me and setting me up with a safe and affordable compound...
Read moreMy husband and I decided to go to Bass Pro Shops in Foxboro on Saturday. We go periodically, as my husband is a fisherman and hunter. It takes us close to an hour to get there. Until we got there, we had no idea they were having a "dog day". I have never heard of such a thing in a Non Pet Store. We went in anyway, since this was usually a fun trip for my husband and I didn't want to ruin it.
There were dogs everywhere, not in a cordoned off area (which I assumed they would be). 2 minutes after walking in, I watched one dog pee on a rack of shirts that were for sale. The owner just kept on walking. I was appalled and went right to the customer service desk. He was somewhat snippy and defensive and said they had advertised the dog day and 7 out of 10 of their customers have dogs. Nothing about where was the pee and we'll make sure it's taken care of. I saw several other areas in the store with pee on the floor and watched another dog pee on a pillar. Many of the dogs were very big. It may not have been as concerning if they had cordoned off an area and channeled the dogs into that area instead of giving them free reign of the store. I don't understand the current trend to have dogs in a public building ( other than service dogs of course). It seems like it would be a huge liability, as well as a health hazard. There were small children going up to strange dogs, dogs jumping on each other and barking. It was scary to me. We cut our visit short I will think long and hard before I ever visit this store again. I don't want to purchase clothes a dog has relieved...
