UPDATE 7/17: I'm pleased to see how swift the response was from both the General Manager Dionte and the owner of UnityRd.
I spoke to both and they were very apologetic. They did their best to reassure me that the actions of this one employee are not in line with their culture and that they strive to be a welcoming shop for all members of our community.
I was assured that something like this would never happen again and regret that this had transpired.
I appreciated their time and swift response.

Original Post 7/15: Product is product. What you find in one dispensary here in NJ, you're likely going to find it at another just a few miles down the road.
What distinguished Unity Rd. on Somerset Ave was their how pleasant, excited, and eager the team was answer questions about products so that newbies like me can make informed decisions.... At least when they first opened.
Unfortunately, one of their oldest employees has grown increasingly more disgruntled and had no qualms about taking out their issues on customers.
For example, today, I went in to make a purchase. On the register beside me was a person who only spoke a different language but, one which I speak natively.
When I jumped in to help, this employee insisted they spoke the language, understood the customer clearly, and needed NO help from me. Meanwhile, the customer is asking this employee questions and the employee is providing unintelligible, confusing answers. The employee clearly did not have a grasp on the language and was just confusing the customer further.
The customer went so far as to continue asking me for help translating but, I was forced to recuse myself.
This is no way to treat customers... especially if a customer is trying to HELP YOU MAKE A SALE!
I found it to be borderline RACIST and downright ignorant.
However, I kept my cool - proceeded with my purchase. As I left, I had a calm conversation with the current General Manager, Dionte... but, the person who needs to read and address this is the franchise owner.
A few weeks back, this same employee took issues with questions I had about the changes to the loyalty program.
I have been a retail employee for over 7 years and if I ever spoke like this to a customer, I would have been reprimanded or let go.
If you are incapable of mustering the patience to address customer questions, then you do not belong in customer service. Period.
The thing about, "you've just lost a customer" is that it starts to add up: One customer here.... Another there because they read a bad review.
Slowly, but surely, business suffer when they do not know how to train...
Read moreCheck the labels and compare store label with manufacturer!!! I just started going to this place. It's pretty nice inside with lots of selection. However, I had an incident that makes me distrustful of it now. I ordered a two pack pre roll. When I opened it that night there was only one inside. The outside package from the store did not match the manufacturer label. So they mislabeled the product. Maybe it's a one off but also, it's cannabis and there should be no errors like this. When I told them they said they'll exchange it, but it was late and I already opened it. Imo good customer service should've been the GM asking my name and something like "next time you come in we'll make sure we get you some (free points or whatever) and make this right" instead the GM said to just come in and exchange for equal value, but it's been opened... and why would I trust them again. What else is mislabeled and treated nonchalantly .. Idk if id come back here.. as of now I don't trust their labeling nor do I think they care about their customers. Other places may have less selection but they're meticulous and careful about their labels to ensure safety amongst their cannabis users. I also think other places have better service too.
Anyway just thought to post this so others can be cautious when buying from here....

The staff is 5 stars ✨
I see their online menu is slightly more expensive than some other nearby stores. The product is legitimate and it’s clear this is a safe and regulated shop.
The plaza is safe, and conveniently located next to many different small bite food restaurants. Across the way is a ShopRite, and a bit down the road you’ll find either a Dunkin’ Donuts or Starbucks.
Suggestion for the menu. Bring in select products. Specifically the 1g cartridges which atm seems to be the best value for how expensive cannabis is right now.
Take this rating with a grain of salt regarding pricing. I understand cannabis companies in NJ pay very hefty fees for operating. Shocking considering how the government supported prohibition and locking people up for it. How quickly our minds changed when we talked profit. ANYWAYS. I support this store. But I can’t give 5 stars knowing customers can save a few...
