First off: the lady running the place was nice and the inside is clean. That's about all the good things I have to say.
Unfortunately, the food here ranged from mediocre to really bad. The ramen itself was okay, a little bland but the broth and toppings were acceptable. Good ramen places are hard to find in the US but I have had many better bowls of ramen than this. I found it hard to eat without hot sauce because it lacked any flavor.
The steam bao was awful - maybe a 2/10 If you look at the picture on their website you will see a dry looking piece of meat inside a bun with no other visible filling -- so, I guess their advertising is honest. The meat wasn't great, and the bun had little other filling and not enough sauce. I have ordered this same item at a few other places in the US and every one has been better than this.
The shumai were a bit soggy feeling, gyoza were meh - standard things that come frozen. (every ramen place has frozen gyoza, so this wasn't that bad)
The bubble tea was of course on the "low quality" end but was okay. I am amazed to be saying this but it actually had not enough ice - my bubble tea was warm until I asked for extra ice. I guess this is better than getting too much ice?
If you have never had ramen anywhere else this place is probably okay, but I can't recommend it to anyone that knows what ramen should taste like--there's much better places in New Brunswick and of...
Read moreI wanted to like this place, I really did. we need more restaurant variety in town, and I love ramen, but unfortunately this was like eating in a hospital cafeteria. we got two seaweed salads, a miso ramen and a tonksotu ramen. My seaweed salad had an extremely weird taste, but I figured maybe it was made with a sauce I didn’t recognize, so I ate it, my daughters seaweed salad had a rock in it. My tonksotu broth was extremely bland, it had absolutely no flavor, and the quality of the toppings was extremely low. The fish cake had a weird taste and texture, and the soft boiled egg was overcooked, instead of gooey. I tried my daughters miso broth, and it was also extremely bland, she actually added salt to hers. Overall, it felt like getting Ramen from a hospital cafeteria, or maybe even a prison. Unfortunately, when I got home I got sick, and am still a bit sick now in the middle of the night. The employee working while we were there was extremely nice, but niceness doesn’t make up for subpar quality, bland food, and potential...
Read moreMy co worker and I were passing by and saw Osaka Raman. I've been looking for a good Ramen place after visiting Japan. We stopped in and got some pork dumplings. They were crispy on the bottom and super soft and paper thin on the top with a great flavor. The real surprise was the Osaka ramen itself. Yes, I had low expectations, but I was blown out of the water. The broth was super flavorful and rich and the noodles and egg was spectacular. The pork pieces were cooked JUST RIGHT. While we had the dumplings in the restaurant, I received an urgent work call that pulled us away. I asked them to change my order at the last moment (for take-away) and they didn't complain. The "solids" (noodles, egg, pork, etc) were in one container and the broth in a separate container to make it better from transport. It reheated super well in the microwave and was the best ramen I've had...
