I have a family of 5. Myself, my wife and my 3 boys. This being said we continually have prescriptions that need to be filled. Seeing as we do our major grocery shopping at Giant Eagle and the Gas Perks are great, it would only make sense to use their pharmacy. About a year ago we switched all our monthly prescriptions from CVS to Giant Eagle Pharmacy. Anytime someone is sick and needs meds we have them sent to Giant Eagle Pharmacy. I have not been happy with them from day one. Most of the time there is a long line, and it takes 30 to 40 minutes to pick up a prescription. One would think they would need more employees, but I don't believe this is the case. I believe they are lazy, don't care, and have terrible communication, resulting in longer wait times. I dropped off a prescription on Tuesday the day before New Years Eve. I approached the counter at the drop off area, I was the only customer at the pharmacy. The woman at the computer directly in front of me continued doing what ever it was she was doing and didn't acknowledge me. I stood there for a couple of minutes before she even made eye contact. She still did not say a word. I handed her the prescription for my son that needed to be filled. She took the prescription and walked away. She started helping another employee with something, while I was still waiting. Like I said I was the only customer at the pharmacy. As a retail store manager for 12 years, rule of thumb is, help the customers in the building first. Several more minutes passed before she came back to me. She rudely told me they don't have this medicine but should have it Friday or Monday. She asked for my phone number show they could call me when it was ready. It wasn't just how she was speaking, but her body language said, she was annoyed she even had to help me. Today I needed to get a few grocery items. I headed over to Giant Eagle. First thing I did was went to the Pharmacy to see if maybe my sons prescription was ready even though I hadn't received a call. I walked up to the pharmacy area for pick ups. A young female employee looked at me, and continued about her business, then a young gentleman looked at me, and continued about his business, followed by an older gentleman looking at me, then continuing with what he was doing. Why was I the only customer at the pharmacy, been looked at by three different employees, but not helped, or worse not even acknowledged. I stood there for three minutes or so, before the young lady decided to help me. I asked if my prescription was ready even though I hadn't been called. Yep! You guessed it. It was ready. Why wasn't I called? This is the crap that I go through with Giant Eagle Pharmacy on a regular basis. What irritates me the most, is we spend on average $800-$900 a month at Giant Eagle, and $300 in gas at their sister gas station (GetGo). To get this type of service out of one of their departments is uncalled for. In a whole the Giant Eagle Pharmacy team is unprofessional, lazy, unwilling, uncaring, and disrespectful. I would be embarrassed if I were the manager of this Pharmacy and the manager of the Giant...
Read moreI usually use CVS because that's what my insurance wants. However, following surgery, I was trying to get some heavy duty pain meds filled, and as anyone who gets those types of medications know, pharmacies often go through their FDA-allotted supply and are out. I tried another CVS with the same results. My sister went to Giant Eagle pharmacy but the gate was down and they were actually closed. However, one of the employees was nice enough to come out and talk to her. They agreed to take the prescription and said they did have it but she would have to come back tomorrow, which was fine since I had enough pain pills to last till the next day.
When we came back, it did take two employees and a few minutes to figure out the insurance but that was because they never had to deal with that insurance before. While we were there we asked where the tips for the end of my walker would be. An employee came out from behind the counter and took us to where they were. Since there was more than one kind and size, he took the time to look at the box to make sure we got the right ones.
This not the first time I've had employees go above and beyond for help. A couple of months before that I was looking for a specific cold medicine but couldn't find it. The employee came out into the store and took me to it, and answered my questions.
I think the employees are great here and always helpful. I have passed by there several time and seen them carefully explaining medications to some of there elderly customers., with no sign of impatience. If my insurance didn't insist I use CVS for most of my medications, I would switch to this pharmacy in...
Read moreThis pharmacy has the absolute worst customer service ever!!!! I will not get my prescriptions filled or grocery shop here ever again. I will drive across town to avoid this store. On Thursday I went to my routine doctors appointment and was given a prescription. I went here because it is close to my house so it was convenient. So on Thursday when I went to drop off the prescription, I was informed that I could not drop it off that day because it was dated for the next day. The Pharmacist told me if I come back the next day that they would gladly fill the prescription. So straight from work, I went to the pharmacy to drop it off. This time, a different pharmacist was working and told me that she would not fill it until tomorrow. Now this was upsetting to me because this is the exact thing that I was told yesterday. Now I explained that the prescription was dated for today and asked why it could not be filled. And the only thing that was said to me was a repeat of she was not filling it until tomorrow. No pharmacy manager and everyone just standing around doing and saying nothing while I am asking why my prescription could not be filled. No answers. So I went across the street to another pharmacy and what would you know, I got my prescription filled. I have never been treated like this before and I would be ashamed to be the manager of this...
