Update on the below....Food is still amazing and so is the hospitality!
What a hard year for so many, so when you are able to bask in the light of someone pushing forward in the face of that adversity, it is inspiring...Thai Meric is such a place.
Food wise: Thai Meric holds it's own in the Frederick food scene. Go beyond the Pad Thai and experience how different noodles, vegetables, and flavors add to the balance and taste that really makes Thai Food special. We dined in, my wife had the PAD SEE EEW with Chicken and everything was perfect. I would have been jealous but I was too busy selfishly barreling through my PAD WOON SEN with Pork. All the flavors were there, too often you don't get the flavor of the protein but again, the balance of these dishes and the way they were cooked allowed for those flavors to come out. We also had the Spring Rolls, TOM KHA, and finished with the Mango with Sticky Rice...All just so good.
My 5 year old stole my wife's leftovers the next morning, which is why I don't do leftovers, however, I can say, she liked everything she tasted too. So kid tested, parent date night approved...
Now the most important part and I hope if you skimmed my rant on the food, you read this part. Pim, who co-owns with her husband, was our server for the night. Pim shared with us their story, the hard hours, and the love that has gone into Thai Meric. We felt so close to this place as we left. We take so many things for granted in this world, and in the past year, it's snapped forward facing how important pushing forward is. Sometimes that means taking a chance and sharing something you love, with people who will come to love you for your talents. Thai Meric shares that love, through it's food, through it's atmosphere, though the people who bring it to life. Frederick has so many stories, this is one to add to that book. We're...
Read moreVery disappointing. I ordered from here many months ago and it was delicious. Today was just bad.
I ordered spring rolls, red curry beef, and mango sticky rice. The mango sticky rice was the only thing worth bothering with. It had a delicious delicate taste, though the texture of the rice was chewy rather than tender, and the serving size didn't justify the steep price tag.
The spring rolls were ridiculous. Three tiny, greasy rolls for almost $3 each. No.
I had ordered the red curry beef previously, so I was expecting something much better than what I received. First thing I saw when opening the package was an inch of reddish oil on top. It's supposed to be made with coconut oil, not cheap vegetable grease.
Second problem is that the vegetables were almost all bamboo,. There was a little basil and a tiny amount of pepper and endless gobs of bamboo.
Third problem was the spice level, I ordered medium and what I received was HOT. I'd hate to see what you would get if you ordered it hot, let alone Thai hot.
Overall, this was just a very disappointing experience. I don't know if their standards have dropped off or whether someone was having a bad day or what, but I doubt I'll be ordering from here again. Pretty expensive to have a...
Read moreI visited this place for the first time yesterday on a date based on reviews from Yelp and I am so happy I did. I came in at around 05:30 pm ( 1 hr before my date) because I needed some me time. It was still happy hour so I got the small platters for the Gyoza and the Fire cracker shrimp. I loved the latter a lot!. The shrimp was cooked nicely the Gyoza was pretty good too. The decor is very modern farmhouse and the vibe us really chill. The entrance is really pretty with a bar and very comfortable chairs where you could eat or wait for your order to go. Later on, my date and I had our meal and I got the Seafood street fried rice (seafood is shrimp, squid and Mussels) and it was exquisite. The only thing I did not really care for were the chunky tomatoes (personal preference). My date had the tangerine chicken that came with Jasmine rice and he said he liked it. We finished the meal off with some pineapple infused Sake and Thai Iced tea. The pineapple infused Sake is perfect for people who have never had Sake or who cannot drink the original Sake. You can taste the Sake and pineapple with hints of Cinnamon. The Thai infused tea is perfect especially because it is not too sweet. Will definitely visit again and try the...
