Recline and Design — Local services in Fredericksburg

I went to Ashley, Bassett and La-Z-Boy first. None of them had a recliner that would fit me. For some reason, the backs of all the recliners were so short that my head was hanging off the back when I reclined. (I'm only 6'2" and 220 lbs, so, barely bigger than average.) Plus, the cost didn't seem consistent with the quality. At my wife's request, we made our final stop at Recline and Design before giving up and going home. The owner of Recline and Design, TJ, was great. I very bluntly told him what I wanted and how much I wanted to spend, and he walked me right to the recliner I've had in my living room for the last year. The price was fair, (almost half of the other stores), and with a good warranty. TJ helped my wife pick from hundreds of different fabrics, and I left happy. Delivery was free and without any issues. Now I can reline with my head resting comfortably against the back of my chair without having to build a multi-pillow head support system every time I lean back. Nice. Recently, I had a small issue with the chair. I dialed the number and braced myself for the inevitable argument I was expecting to have. Nope! TJ was cool, apologized for the trouble and scheduled a free repair visit where he'll come to my house and fix it himself. You don't see that kind of customer service anymore! 7 months after ordering a single recliner, I cannot get my calls returned nor can I get a better answer than "I don't know you might get it soon maybe". I have been told countless times that they will call me back or that I should hear back from them within the week only to find out they must not know how to dial the phone and to be told the same thing when I finally call them. It's a shame they think so little of their customers that my questions were answered with laughing. I will NEVER deal with them again nor would I recommend them to my least favorite person.

I finally do not have to call them ever again!! After posting my review I received a call with a delivery date. Funny how my chair went from incomplete with the manufacturer to ready to deliver in a day after 7 months. Guess they weren't willing to give me any updates until I gave them a bad review, which I'm not changing, I still would NOT recommend them to anyone.

Per the reply:. I do not hold the supply issue against you, I hold the utter lack of communication against you which you failed to address in your response. I never expected miracles, but did expect a call back when told that is what to expect, maybe more effort should be spent...

I had a very pleasant experience while at Recline and Design. My husband and myself were looking for reclining furniture and we were met by a gentleman that made us feel at home. We let him know what we were interested in and he worked with us throughout the selection process to find something that met our needs. Our experience at his establishment was one we will be back to visit when we need to purchase more furniture. He was very educated with the products he sells.
