King's Head Pub — Local services in Freeport

One never knows what to expect on the second day of a new restaurant opening, but the staff at The King's Head Pub in Freeport were already on top of their game. Service was prompt and friendly and my waitress effortlessly answered a couple of questions. The Scotch egg was perfectly cooked and had just the right amount of heat, and the cocktail shrimp were very large and very fresh. The only entree I tried, fish & chips, included two large haddock filets that were very clean and flaky inside and battered with what is called a "British style" batter that was new to my experience, but I loved its texture and the crispy crunch it brought to the haddock. GREAT beer and alcohol beverage selection for a boys or girls night on the town! But also a place to go with the grandkids or in-laws to get seafood(mussels, shrimp, clams, lobster) or sandwiches(burgers, chicken, fish, tofu) they also have salads and kids meals. Was eager to try. The acoustics are terrible. Sat at bar and the bartender was surly, just functionary as was interacting with regulars...did not feel welcoming at all. Noise so loud (about 1/3 full) and reception from the bartender...we left without ordering. Disappointed. Unpleasant experience. Outside of Tuscan Grill, Freeport remains a restaurant dining desert.
