I don’t like leaving bad reviews. I usually prefer to give people the benefit of the doubt, because everyone has tough days. But after what happened today at 99 Ranch Market, I felt I had to share my experience.
I went to the market to get some food for myself and my daughter. We chose the self-service station, which had a variety of Chinese food options. We got our plates and went to the cashier, her name, according to the receipt, was Bao Ling Z. Unfortunately, what should have been a simple, everyday interaction turned into one of the most uncomfortable and disrespectful experiences I’ve ever had at a business.
From the moment we approached the counter, the cashier was aggressive and rude. She started yelling at me to hand her something, but I didn’t understand what she meant at first. She kept pointing and yelling, and I eventually realized she meant my daughter’s lunchbox. I gave it to her and said, kindly, that she could have just asked me nicely instead of yelling. But she didn’t seem to care at all.
When I gave her the money, she grabbed it from my hand with more unnecessary aggression. I didn’t say anything, still trying to stay calm. But then, instead of handing me the receipt like any decent person would, she threw it across the counter at me. It wasn’t just rude it was demeaning. I felt invisible, like I wasn’t even worth basic respect.
Even then, I didn’t raise my voice or cause a scene. I simply walked away and told another employee what had happened. But sadly, they didn’t care either. No apology, no concern just cold indifference.
And to top it all off, the food wasn’t even worth it. The chicken was stale and hard, with a rotten smell and taste. I had to throw it away, which made me feel even worse not about the money, but about the wasted food. I don’t take that lightly.
This entire experience made me feel deeply disrespected. I came in smiling and left feeling ashamed and upset for something I didn’t even do. Maybe the staff were having a rough day but that’s not an excuse to treat people like they don’t matter.
I’m sharing this review because no one should be treated this way, and no one should have to throw away food they paid for. I won’t be coming back, and while they probably don’t care, this is exactly how loyal customers are lost....
Read moreToday, I visited 99 Ranch Market with my son to restock on some snacks. This was not my first time in this store; however, my past experience had left a sour taste in my mouth due to what I perceived as suspicious behavior from the cashier. Unfortunately, my recent visit only served to confirm my suspicions.
Upon arrival, I noticed the store was relatively slow, which was a relief as I thought we could quickly grab what we needed and be on our way. However, as we approached the checkout, it became evident that something was amiss. The cashier, Jun, was notably unfriendly. Now, I understand that everyone can have a bad day, so I brushed it off initially.
But what happened next was completely uncalled for. As I was paying, another cashier went out of her way to come and inspect our basket from different angles, as if searching for evidence of theft. What made it worse was that Jun, the cashier, also started scrutinizing our items. This was despite the fact that there were no indications whatsoever of any wrongdoing on our part.
The blatant suspicion and lack of trust shown towards us was appalling. It seemed as though they were singling us out for no reason other than their own prejudices. What's worse, I didn't observe them treating any other customers in the same manner.
As a customer, I believe in treating others with respect and trust until they give me a reason not to. The treatment my son and I received today was not only disrespectful but also deeply hurtful. No one should be made to feel like a criminal when all they're doing is shopping for snacks.
In conclusion, the behavior exhibited by the staff at 99 Ranch Market was absolutely disgusting. They need to learn how to treat customers with dignity and respect, regardless of their own personal biases or assumptions. I certainly won't be returning to this store anytime soon, and I would caution others to think twice before patronizing a business that treats its customers in such a...
Read moreI am a frequent shopper at 99 Ranch, but I must say I am very frustrated with the food court. Last week I went to purchase half of a roasted duck. I requested the half without the neck but the old gentleman serving the food told me that the first customer must take the neck. Accepting the rules, I gave in and took the half with the neck and hoped for better luck next time. This afternoon at 2:22 PM PST, I went back to purchase another half duck and hoped to get the half without the neck. The customers in front of me ordered first and when they asked for the half without the neck, the old gentleman gave them both exactly what they asked for without any hesitation. When it was my turn, I did the same thing that I had seen the customers before me do, but the old gentleman insisted that I take the half duck with the neck. I was feeling somewhat upset about this and wondering why he was being inconsistent, I reminded him of our discussion last week. Not wanting to let him push me around, I told him that I would be back and went to do some shopping. Later, I went back and pointed to a plump duck hanging from the rack, asking to order a half duck. The old gentleman told me you cannot choose, a statement which his treatment of other customers completely contradicts. He then proceeded to intentionally pick the very smallest duck from the rack to give me. He didn’t pick the leftmost or rightmost duck which would have been logical since he said choosing is not permitted. Instead, he very specifically and intentionally picked the smallest duck. Feeling disheartened, I went back home. After eating lunch with the kids, I have to say that the duck is extremely small, barely enough for 2 servings. I feel like I was cheated and discriminated against. This blatantly unprofessional behavior from their employee has given me a very negative impression...
