This restaurant was really crowded in a rather quiet plaza in Fremont. Service was pretty quick and efficient, and overall the cosy setting made this a good evening choice one weekend.
They had a pretty good selection of chicken parts that I haven't really seen in other yakitori places so I was excited to try them all. The website says that they have limited quantities of everything but I managed to get everything I ordered the day I visited. Special: Tako seaweed salad - well seasoned and a good combination! Yakitori - everything was nicely charred and cooked perfectly! I really liked the selection but I did notice that they mostly did everything with shio instead of offering a tare option. If you like saucey yakitori, you might want to check in with them on that option. Sunagimo (gizzard) - crunchy and delicious Hiza nankotsu (knee cartilage) - never had this before and it was great! Usually the cartilage pieces are quite large but these were nicely bite sized Tsukune with yolk - this was served with a tare and was really good and juicy! Dipping the meat into that gooey egg yolk is always a great move Sori (thigh oyster) - I've never tried this part before and it was delicious. I liked the little piece of crispy skin still clinging to the juicy meat Kurobuta buta bara (pork belly) - not too fatty though it would have been nice if these were thick pieces of pork! Ranch Gyutan (beef tongue) - nice and roasty Kalbi (short rib) - these were marinated before putting them on the grill so there was a nice sweetness and char to the meat Eringi (king oyster mushroom) - I liked that they added a bit of katsuobushi to the top to add to the smoky flavors Avocado with yuzutare - this was really good! I loved the charred parts contrasting with the creamy avocado and citrusy sauce. I've never seen this at another yakitori place so it was a nice surprise
The restaurant also offers nabe specials like motsunabe and mizutaki which would be great if you're a little more hungry. The sake was also quite...
Read moreThis place gets quite busy even on weekdays after 8, so expect some wait time. The skewers are mostly $6-8+ for two, and that's a bit higher than average for yakitori, but it is reasonable for this area. I have my own yakitori setup and make my own tare, so I do have some preferences on what the skewers should taste like. It doesn't mean mine is better, or theirs are worse, like some people like medium rare and some like medium steak.
I ordered the chicken oysters, which is a must if you're getting chicken, pork belly, chicken gizzard, mushroom, salmon, scallops, and a few other things. Most of them came out a bit undercooked for my liking, more on the rare side than medium rare, and the outside was too charred. So it felt like they rushed through it and didn't turn the skewers as often to keep the temperature even. It's understandable since they were busy and had to keep up with the orders. Since they were a bit undercooked, some were still lukewarm in the center.
Flavor wise, they did spray the sake once before grilling but not during the process. So it felt like it lacked some of the sweetness from the sake and caused some of the dryness. I ordered skewers with salt and with tare to see if their tare is any good. I would say the tare was a bit light and not much flavor, so maybe they just mixed the new batch into the old one.
Overall, the skewers are still good for what it is, but does it justify the premium price? That's for you to decide. It is still a good experience if you want to get together with friends and have some skewers like a causal BBQ. If you're more picky with yakitori, then this place might not be for you. Parking is easily accessible at the plaza, and the...
Read moreI want to give 0 start but the system minimum is 1 star. This is the worst restaurant I ever meet in the world. I came here for 3 times. First time, I came early around 5pm on weekday and wait around 15 mins. Food and service is OK.
Second time, I came here around 6:30pm on Friday after work. I wait around 1 hour. I saw there are couple of empty seats many times, but they still forced us to wait outside. After my waiting time outside the restaurant, I have to wait another 20 mins to start get my food cooked ready. And the order is totally wrong. The dish I order in the beginning came one hour late when I already paid the bill that dish food was still cooking. And some dishes were missing after my order 30mins later. They told me that was because that meat was sold out. But if they sold out, they should tell me earlier, not let me wait 30 mins and tell me no food, then I have to re-order again to wait another 30 mins.
Third time is the worst experience, I think maybe they are super busy during dinner time, therefore, I decided to come very late around 9:30pm. We saw there are couple of empty seats, and again, they forced us to wait outside for 45+ mins. It was super cold outside, and they have many empty seats, but they just don't allow you to enter. They keep telling you excuse like they don't want customers seat next to each other (, but it is not true when I was there in previous 2 visits). Then they told me that they are calling previous waiting customers but they already calling them or at least I wait another 15 mins, and no update. Keep waiting.
This is the worst restaurant. Hunger marketing. They have...
