I went here two nights ago to return some items, as I had done earlier on in the week (from the same receipt). As this is my local Burlington, I shop here often and never have any issues but on the night of Oct. 6 around 7:30/ 8 pm, Mariella (the cashier) decided to ask her manager, Maria, loudly if the return could be processed as I had purchased the items at the Milpitas location (there was a receipt and being that I am a rewards member my return deadline is extended, so I was well within the time frame). When I explained that I had just done a return transaction ,with no issues, earlier in the week and I had never heard of this happening, her only explanation was that “they sometimes don’t take returns from other locations”. I’ve never experienced having to return to the same location on the receipt to do a return when shopping at Burlington. I then asked lost prevention if he was aware of this and he said yes “because different stores have different inventory”. After shopping and purchasing my items, I then asked the manager, Maria, why this was even a question and she said that Mariella “may not have known” how returns worked. I then asked her if it was true what Mariella and lost prevention said and she said “it was not correct, as long as a receipt was present and the items were on the receipt it could be returned” (which was my entire situation as I had never tried to return anything without a receipt). In the middle of my mother, Maria and myself speaking, Nargis very rudely interrupts the conversation to ask my mother “to pay” because she was at the register. Maria actually had to stop Nargis from being so rude and combative to my disabled mother because we were addressing an issue with her. Nargis finished the transaction while huffing and puffing and rolling her eyes when we asked the payment amount and asked her to be patient with my disabled mother. I have never felt as ostracized and suspicious as I did that night in this location. I’m actually so turned off that I will be taking my business to any other locations, which is unfortunate as this is my local Burlington. I’m actually shocked by their behavior. I would not recommend this location to anyone if you want an enjoyable shopping experience. The staff that night were rude, accusatory and lacked accountability. Read moreI was at this store today (01/21/2023) at 4:45PM. I had to return some items that I had purchased during the holiday season. Since I was a couple of days over the return date, one of the item was marked down by $4. I was never informed about this by the cashier (Her name was Nailia. If she had told me, I would have kept the item. After the transaction, when I asked her , she was not sure and I asked for the manager. I think her name was Alex (not sure). I was surprised by the way the manager responded to me. So so rude and insulting in front of everyone. She dint even have the courtesy to apologize for the inconvenience. She literally said to me - "it's not my mistake you missed the deadline to return". Is this how you talk to your customers? Already I have heard from my friends that they never go to this Burlington store as the customer service is horrible. I will also never be coming here ! The manager and the associates here need to be thought what basic customer service is ! Will never be visiting or recommending this...
Read moreMy wife and I visited this store on November 12 and my wife applied for credit card. She got approved and got her credit card but she and the service person forgot to return her ID. After we came home the id was missing. I called on November 13 at 12:33 to arrange for pickup and told them to keep the id card but they said "your wife can picked it up only". My wife got sick the third day and we couldn't pick up sooner. The Manager took her phone number and name to keep the id till we get there. We went there a month late when my wife got better to pick up id. But I wished we never visited Burlington in Newark. They destroyed the id card.
The manger was so rood and selfish and never said sorry while I called them and told them to keep it. Instead; she was using threatening language and so inappropriately behaving us. I think that's why these businesses are facing bankruptcy. The Manager doesn't know how to talk to a customer.
