I’ve been a loyal customer at Unik for over four years and have always had positive experiences especially with Babita and Leticia, who have consistently treated me with kindness and professionalism. Unfortunately, I recently had an extremely upsetting encounter with Lucy, which has prompted me to speak up and cancel my membership going forward.

During my visit, Lucy spoke to me in a shockingly disrespectful and unprofessional manner, raising her voice in front of Babita and another customer. This confrontation occurred simply because I asked for clarification about whether my membership would be charged an additional $30 starting August 1st. Lucy had stated during our session that prices would be increasing due to higher rates at other New York Unik locations. When I mentioned that the Miami, FL location communicates pricing changes in advance to clients, she told me to “go back to Florida,” called me “trash,” and added, “this is what I’m going to do to my customers.” She also went on to say that the current monthly rate is “nothing” compared to the work she does.

This was only my second time meeting Lucy and my first negative experience at Unik. Her behavior was aggressive, combative, and completely unacceptable especially for someone who owns and represents the franchise. Babita even had to ask her multiple times to calm down and lower her voice, but Lucy continued to behave in a hostile and dismissive manner.

I will be reaching out to corporate to formally file a complaint and will be advising those I’ve referred to Unik to cancel their memberships as well. This experience was incredibly disappointing and does not reflect the level of professionalism I’ve come to...

The idea of this place is great! The environment and convenience of walking in was why I returned the second time. However, I have so many ingrowns I am frustrated. I’ve been getting waxed for 10 years and their style is a little different. The first time I went I had a few ingrowns but nothing outrageous. I went back a second time and the process was so rushed that there was never a follow up strip done in any area. Typically my hair takes 6 weeks to grow back. I would say it took a week before I saw growth but honestly there was still hair there due to being waxed one and done. I thought it was strange and let it go because my first experience was fine. But the amount of ingrown hairs I’ve had since my last wax is equivalency to shaving 13 years ago. I am so upset and embarrassed to even wear a swim bottom. If you prefer European wax center style waxing, this place is for you. I prefer my waxer to be a little more attentive. I've had a bikini membership here for about a year now and it was a great decision. It was my first time getting a Brazilian wax in years and the facility met all of my expectations. The waxers are always kind, gentle, ask questions, and make me feel comfortable overall. I started off with getting just a Brazilian wax but now I wax my underarms and eyebrows/upper lip too! The facility is always clean, all of the rooms and the restrooms. They have refreshments for you at the front all the time.

Their wax is different from other places I've tried, but in a good way. It doesn't irritate my skin. I have also tried 2 of their products- the ingrown serum and the bikini balm. The ingrown serum has helped in exact what it advertises, but with brightness as well. It makes your skin feel soft and dries quickly. It lasts a little over 3 months.
