Congratulations btw for eliciting a negative review from someone who rarely ever writes a negative review! From all my reviews, I rarely write a negative one...knowing full well how such a review can impact a business. Here, I almost feel compelled to share how humiliated the manager (who's designation I presume) made me feel when I decided to follow (out of curiosity) a few patrons into an adjoining bar that's called the Parlour...also owned by the same establishment. Before I even reached to open the second door, he asked me to leave the area...and as I was about to, our server, who happened to be in the area as well, pointed to a small sign posted on the first door that effectively read, you needed an okay by a staff member to let you through...obviously, I didn't see it. And, if that wasn't enough, she raised her voice at our table of six in addressing me for not following the "rules". Are you kidding me??? Incidentally, from the vantage point of our table in the back, the larger sign w/"Parlour" written on the door (w/the kitchen lights illuminating it), was a whole lot more conspicuous than was the small non-descript one w/the "rule" written on it. The way I see it, regardless, and even completely irrespective even of our $700+ spend that evening, why would you choose to humilate a patron this way? As someone who's familiar w/running a business, I think the situation could have been handled so differently...firstly, by keeping in check the tone of voice (by both the manager and the server); and secondly, the manner in which a patron is addressed (again, both individuals)...which, I assure future customers to this establishment that this was lacking on both counts. The approach to training its staff in hospitality and hiring the right individuals to deliver it has to come from the ownership...and it's sorely missing here. Regardless, congratulations again on compelling me to share my humiliating experience at your establishment. Please relish in the fact that this review is from someone who is very reluctant in ever writing a negative review in the first place...unless it's well deserved!
*This was my review of this place four years ago (yes, I've come here quite a few times w/friends). I had rated it five stars then: A cozy neighborhood bar vibe...unpretentious and has an upscale interior decor with a friendly staff. The husband and wife owners actively manage this place to ensure flawless execution. Add to this mix, Colleen, who is a talented live singer. A nice place to have a drink and a...
Read moreBlack Dollars Are Not Valued at Black Owned Restaurant in Frisco While it's refreshing to witness and patronize minority owned restaurants in prestigious suburban zip codes, the love and appreciation is not always reciprocated by the minority owners. As a leader of Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion at a Fortune 500 Company, I am disappointed in how undervalued black patrons are treated by the owner and management team at Bottled and Bond Parlour and Kitchen in Frisco, Tx. During our most recent and FINAL visit to enjoy their live music Friday, we were basically asked to surrender our reserved table because they overbooked for their capacity and could not accommodate the next party. I get it, reservations for small establishments may have reservation time limits but such information should be disclosed at booking and confirmation. Members of our party were still ordering food and drinks, some of which hadn't even been delivered yet....but we were still informed we needed to surrender our table when the new party became too antsy and wanted to be seated. Aside from this operations flaw it's essential to mention: we were the ONLY black patrons in the restaurant the black owner extended cavalier greetings to other patrons, but not us there is little to no diversity of staff or management (IN A BLACK OWNED RESTAURANT!) over the past year of patronizing and referring people (business and personal), the black owner is visible but NEVER swings by to ensure all is well or to greet us like its competitor non-minority owned restaurants To be clear, a huge reason why I continued to advocate and support this restaurant is largely because it is Black Owned. I mean I can pay premium prices for 5 shrimp with some grits somewhere else...AND WILL MOVING FORWARD.
I truly appreciate all who read this review and follow my lead in refusing to patronize Bottled and Bond in Frisco and other businesses that exploit being minority owned only to continue to perpetuate devaluing black dollars and black clientele. If you happen to have the privilege of crossing paths with the owner, please enlighten him on the importance of equity and black customer appreciation. Please strongly consider alternative dining and lounge establishments that are consistently welcoming to its BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of...
Read moreI decided to go to this restaurant today. I’m actually surprised and upset about the service I received. I walked into the establishment and I don’t see not one hostess. So, I assumed that I could just seat myself. I decided to sit at the bar and the bartender there ignored me for a good 5 minutes. White guy showed up and sat next to me and the bartender decided to come right over. Hmph, interesting, right? Just stating facts. He decided to ask what can I do for you? I would like a Moscow Mule. The Moscow mule had SO much ice in it. Terrible, terrible drink, especially considering that it’s a beer and a little of vodka. I order the bison burger which was very good. Yummy! The bartender brought us our food and never showed up again. The bartender that showed up later - which is the lady - asked us if we’ve been helped. I said kinda but not really. The bartender that initially helped us has no personality , no service, and seem like he just didn’t want to be there.
The other most interesting part is that the owner was actually there. He don’t interact or show greetings to customers just like the other employees, so how can we get mad at the bartender? First and last time going to this place. Bison Burger was great! The drinks were terrible!
By the way, this place might have some or all black ownership in it, but there is not any black culture within this restaurant. No black waitress/waiters, no black hostesses, no black bartenders, etc. The restaurant has black leadership, but no diversity at the bottom of him. Interesting.
*The owner responded with no accountability, but with several excuses. Take feedback and DO BETTER. There is no justification for the bartender being rude, nor should there be any excuses for terrible service or a terrible drink. I asked for a drink, not a Sonic slush. As far as diversity, it’s more than just BLACK & WHITE. Diversity is very broad, but that’s not for me to teach you. And if the only diversity is in the back or was off that day, that’s...
