The Canopy has a contemporary design and good vibe music in the lobby. The rooms are spacious and first impressions are great. Getting into the finer details, the bathroom is poorly laid out. The shower had multiple handles and was initially a trick to figure out, and then the water pressure was low. The two towel hooks I could find are meant for clothes or towels and are couple steps away from the sink and behind the shower door when open. In my room I found the hand sink didn't drain real well. I liked the open closet set up with the built in drawers though there were not enough hangers. I was disappointed that I couldn't figure out how to stream my device to the TV to watch what I wanted...probably a way if I tried long enough but it may be impossible. Having the Netflix app on the TV is ridiculous...think I'm going to sign in here? No. Showtime is also available but I found nothing of interest. As for food and drink options, there is no free breakfast. They offer a menu of food options you can order, along with a few items you can pick from on the counter, but all food and drink is additional cost. While they have a nice bar for alcoholic drinks, I was disappointed in their bourbon options and despite ordering the same drinks two nights in a row, the costs went up from the first night to the second! The bartender told me he has no button for a drink I ordered and so he charged me differently than the guy the night before. The bar and food/coffee counter are going completely cashless, but their credit card machine didn't work two nights in a row so I spent an extra 5 mins at the front counter getting my bar tab closed out. See my pics! Checkout was a pain too. The front desk guy literally switched back and forth between two computers for at least 5-10 mins, during which he took a phone call, and asked my room number twice just to get checked out. đŸ„ș Please like my review if you found this review interesting or useful!

One word that comes to mind about staying in this hotel is underwhelming. Upon arrival and opting for the self-parking, I received no greeting or a hello from the doorman/valet on duty. Instead, he was on his phone and having a great time. As a matter of fact, I was not once greeted by any of the attendants throughout my stay; instead, I was met with a cold stare from most of them, which was a pretty bad first impression. I also noticed a strong odor of a specific smoked substance, which was unpleasant outside the hotel. On the positive side, Shaun at the front desk was excellent, I believe he was the only one on shift, but he made for a great welcome. The elevators were fast, too, which is a plus. The room got the fundamentals, the bed was clean and comfortable, the AC and hot water worked well enough, and there were plenty of towels. At the class this hotel is positioned at, however, the rooms need to hit more than the fundamentals, and the room itself was lacking everywhere else. The bathroom sliding door had fallen off the track and could not be moved without breaking the door, and the whole room seemed to have a lot of wear and very few signs of upkeep. The shower also looked dirty, and the frosted glass divider looked worse. This wear theme was prevalent throughout the hotel, but more so in the room than in other public areas. The hot water was also very warm at best, though the shower was nice. At check out, the two agents on duty were pleasant and friendly, but the (a different)doorman was again occupied on his phone. Although the hotel is in a convenient location, improvements are needed in customer service and upkeep. For the $164 I paid after all taxes and fees, I was left underwhelmed with this experience, and I will consider staying elsewhere next time I need to be in this area.

I usually stay at the Omni when at the Star District, though out of curiosity, I’ve recently given Canopy and the next door hotels a try. I will say that if you’re looking for the full Star experience with limited inconvenience with parking, parking fees, and closer proximity to dining, Omni is still my first choice. Canopy would come in as a close second as the rooms are spacious, modern, clean, and the hotel is relatively quiet. These are all things that I value when looking for lodging. A downside to Canopy would be the $15 parking fee. As others have stated, the garage is behind the building and is maybe 25% occupied, if that. There really is no logical rationale for charging the parking fee other than corporate greed, especially with all of the inconvenience of having to trudge luggage from the rear of the building to the hotel entrance. I’m not accustomed to carrying my own luggage, so this was a first. You don’t pay for parking at the Omni and parking is closer and more convenient. Secondly, the pillows aren’t very supportive. I woke up with the worst neck pain. I booked through the Hilton app and requested a dental kit, which was not in my room upon arrival. That was remedied by me having to go downstairs and requesting it via the concierge. I did love the large tv in the room and the cleanliness. Would I stay again? Maybe in the warmer months as I’d have to account for the walk from the garage to the hotel. The unnecessary parking fee would more than likely deter me. Once again, Omni would be my first choice. You just cannot beat their excellent customer service, bottle service, on-site restaurant, views of the stadium, and the liveliness.

First, the parking here is horrible. You can either pay $25 a day for valet or $22 a day for a parking garage. This parking garage is located behind the hotel. There is absolutely zero parking in front of the hotel for you to unload or anything. It is all valet and if you park there to unload you are blocking valet and while they told us we could park there for "a few minutes" to get checked in, they didn't seem happy about it. So, we didn't bother them with that and parked in the nearest parking a block behind the hotel to go check in. Desk staff was amazing. They were amazing the whole time. We check in and then go to the parking garage. We drive a Chevy trail boss. The parking area for a vehicle this height was limited to about 10 spaces which were all full of tiny vehicles that could have parked on the next level where the larger vehicles couldn't fit. We were forced to either park in a handicapped spot or a tow away zone. Luckily, I think they saw we had no other choice for a parking spot and we didn't get ticketed. Thank goodness because we had already paid our $50 for parking in this garage ($22 a night plus fees). Hindsight, we would have used valet. Now to the hotel. After inconveniently hauling our two days worth of luggage from the back of the hotel to the front because goodness forbid they put an entrance in the back of the hotel for the parking garage-we made it inside. We relax in our room and then decide to clean up before we head out for a night on the town. We notice that there is no hot water. Thinking this may just be a fluke-we let the water run for a good 10 minutes plus. Still no sign of any hot water. We leave to go get some dinner for our anniversary and tell them at the front desk. They assure us it would be fixed by the time we got back and if it wasn't we would be moved to a different room. We get back and still no hot water. We go down and tell them-and they give us a new room two floors up. Not a king though-they were out of those somehow. We ended up with a double queen and a $50 discount for the first night. They also tell us we can move rooms the next day when a king becomes available again. We get to our new room. Same thing. No hot water. By this time it is 10 PM and we are so tired that we just lay down and plan to mess with it in the morning. We get up and try to get a shower hoping maybe the hot water would be working magically. It was not. After both having cold showers-not being able to relax for any length of time on our anniversary weekend-having to pack everything back up for a third time to move rooms to a room that we are not confident will have hot water either-we decide to check out and find a new place. I go downstairs and the kid at the desk is a new one-haven't seen him yet. He is wearing a hoodie and does not look very professional. He assures me that the issue will be fixed by 8 PM. It is 10AM and we just started our morning with a cold shower. No thank you. We are leaving. Then he tells me that he can check me out but can't refund me because we have to use Expedia since we booked through them. I told him that was incorrect-that they can refund us because they did for the first night. He said he wasn't sure how that worked. I stayed persistent and pulled up my Expedia reservation which showed that I chose the "pay at property" option-and then he asked for the last 4 numbers on my card. I gave them to him and he said "oh so that's your card on here.." UMMMM.. yeah.. who else's card would be on our reservation?? So after that run around-we got to speak to the manager because he had come out at this point. Ended up getting the refund. He was very kind and understanding. Then, onto parking. We were told that the hotel did not give refunds on the parking because that was a second entity. We had to work that out with the valet kids out front. We talked to them-they assured we would get our night of parking free that we didn't use but paid $22 for. Still haven't seen that refund-not to say it isn't coming-just haven't...

There is no parking at this hotel, there is a parking garage behind the hotel that charges 22$ a day for guest the alternative is valet parking for 25$ a day (not including a tip) .After booking a 3 day stay , as recently as 1/18/25 for a birthday celebration using my Hilton rewards points for being a loyal customer. I usually stay at doubletree by Hilton but chose Canopy by Hilton for its boasted balcony rooms and proximity to a birthday celebration i was attending . Upon check in , around 5 pm on the coldest day of the year ( below 29) the heat was not operable. I'm not an hvac expert ( and neither was anyone one on the premises) but it was cold , the thermostat read less than 60 and there was no heat or air coming out of the vent. I was told by the front desk there were no more balcony rooms and maintenance would be sent to address the issue. The maintenance man was sent to the room with a thermometer to essentially to state that it was not "cold" to him and to suggest I close the curtain (to the balcony view) if I wanted to be warmer. After about an hour of switching on and off the breaker the room next door magically opened up and we we're moved and after a flip of the breaker in the new room the heat finally worked. The next day after my scheduled birthday celebration, I returned to the room to the smell of sewage emitting from all drains in the room. It was unbearable. After several calls/visits to the front desk and about an hour past a maintenance guy and housekeeper were sent to room to essentially pour bleach and other unidentifiable chemicals down the drains replacing the smell of feces with bleach. After about 30 mins the smell returned to the shower area but i did not want to spend my stay going back and forth with the front desk. Plus there are NO MICROWAVES in the rooms so you have to play nice with the front desk to get them to heat up your food, themselves ,in their breakroom (my to-go plate melted and I was brought back a flat box ). Both elevators ceased to work properly, one stopped working all together, the other the door would remain shut even after reaching the floor for about 45 seconds. When I informed the front desk I was told they were working on it and to use the stairs which were essentially outside. A front desk employee, later identified as the "guest services supervisor " made a comment that he apologize for all the inconvenience and the "reward points" would be returned as a result. That did not happen. In fact no action was taken. After leaving, sending a message to management about my experience , and awaiting a response I recieved none. After a week I reached out to the management via phone. Was told my message was received, he proceeded only to address the reason they don't have microwaves and inferred that the Canopy was designed more for "buisness" than leisure and essentially they were doing me a favor by heating up my food. A conversation that was essentially irrelevant to my experience as a whole. The valet was pushy and when I parked in front of the building in the "loading zone" to load my bags in the car (because the parking garage is a 4 minute walk from the only entrance ) i was coerced by the valets to give them my keys in case they needed to move my vehicle, while I was loading it. Approximately 2 weeks later I reach out for a resolution because I was yet to be contacted or reimbursed points, money or otherwise. I recieved an email from the "chief enthusiast" stating that she saw that i spoke to the "guest service supervisor " and that i was refunded points, neither of which was true and a feeble attempt to pacify the situation without any real solution. I'll never stay there again, nor recommend anyone else buisness...
