I'm deeply disappointed and disturbed by an experience I had at Target that I can only describe as racial profiling. As a paying customer, I expect to be treated with respect and fairness- not signaled out and scrutinized by the color of my skin. After making a purchase and heading towards the exit, I was stopped by the security officer who demanded to check my receipt for "altering tags". I complied- showing her my receipt and merchandise showing no tag alterations. She asked me to return the items, provide an ID and not return to the store for an entire year!! While continuing the explain that I had done nothing wrong, I noticed a customer that purchased the exact same items (white customer) proceeding to pay and heading our way towards the exit and politely asked her if she could be so kind as to show the officer that these items are on clearance and that the tags have not been altered. She proceeded to show the receipt and ask if there was an issue, while they officer replied there was not and she was free to go. I explained to the customer what the officer was accusing me of. She was so repulsed by what was happening that she immediately went to return the items and stated she will not stand for what Target is supporting and will not be a returning customer. This store does not stand for equality and respect. Target, you need to train your employees that all your customers are to be treated...

After completing my purchase and heading toward the exit, I was stopped by a security officer who asked to check my receipt, claiming I had been āaltering tags.ā I complied, showing both my receipt and the items I had just bought. The tag that it had was for $4 but apparently it was not a clearance item and it shouldāve been $16. They made it seem like I changed tags. I had my son with me so I had to remained calm. Despite cooperating fully, I was told to return the items, show identification, and was not allowed to re-enter the store. 3 weeks priors to this my husband was also stopped for a Lego set that was on sale for $59 and was told that it was not the original price and made him return it also.
I will not be returning to this location. Target must do better. Your team needs proper training in respectful customer service and how to avoid discriminatory actions. Every customer deserves to be treated fairly ā...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThere was a target worker named Judy last night that had a rude attitude. Me and my friend were shopping and as she walked by I smile and said hi, she responded with a sour face and said āhiā in like an annoyed way? and when I scanned the scanner thing for help at the dressing rooms she looked around the corner to the rooms and said āthere are multiple open.ā With a rude, annoyed tone. I apologized and explained that I didnāt know I could just walk back there, and that I thought I needed a worker to allow me to. She responded in rude mumbles I couldnāt quite understand. Something along the lines of āwell you couldāve just goneā and āyou didnāt need me over hereā. I was actually very upset by the incident, I felt she was unfriendly for no apparent reason. And maybe Judy was just having a bad day, or she has personal problems, but doesnāt everyone? There was no need for her attitude and rudeness, I hadnāt done anything wrong. Iām sorry to Judy and truly hope she finds this situation as a learning experience. Bless your soul...
