The way buying an engagement ring should feel.
I recently stopped by Lim’s Jewelry Co. in Fullerton, and it was exactly the kind of experience I hoped for from a private jeweler.
To give a bit of background: I had done a lot of research on how I wanted to buy an engagement ring. My plan was to buy a loose lab-grown diamond separately, then have it set by a jeweler — something I learned was quite common (and smart) thanks to countless threads on Reddit and other forums.
Buying the diamond itself ended up being pretty straightforward once I understood what to look for based on my budget. But finding the right place to have it set was a whole different story.
I had a few recommendations to check out Happy Jewelers, and my experience there honestly left a lot to be desired. The store was packed, the staff were casually using foul language, and the pricing felt gimmicky: big bold MSRP tags on the rings, then a tiny “Happy Jewelers price” on the back, followed by a sudden “discount” offered by the sales associate. The process felt rushed and transactional, and no one even asked about the person I was buying the ring for. It just didn’t feel right, so I trusted my gut and kept looking.
Back to research mode — and I came across Lim’s Jewelry Co., which happened to be right across the parking lot. Decided to walk in, and from the moment I entered, I was warmly welcomed by Jenny. She took the time to answer all my questions, offered what I felt was a very fair and aggressive quote to make a custom ring to my specs, and most importantly, made me feel like this moment actually mattered.
They have two locations — Fullerton and DTLA. I only visited the Fullerton store, but based on this experience, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them or imagine that the DTLA location would offer the same level of professionalism and care.
In short: if you’re like me, and you want this process to feel personal, transparent, and actually enjoyable, I highly recommend giving Lim’s...
Read moreWhen I set out to design my wedding band, I wanted something that would represent the love I have for my wife but also the deep respect I have for her culture. This design was inspired by Talavera a traditional Mexican art form. I worked with Maddy to incorporate the essence into a timeless piece - alternating sapphire and diamonds where the dots normally would be. The sapphires to me represent loyalty and the diamonds represent strength of our bond. Every detail of this ring tells our story, two cultures coming together, love expressed through tradition. It’s more than a ring to me. It is a daily reminder of our connection & journey. This is a piece I will wear everyday and treasure. Thank you so much to maddy and the hard work of her team to make this absolutely...
