This review might be a little long so TDLR: this store is basically the Brandy Melville of the Triangle area.
I've seen this little boutique pop up everywhere in my social media, with plenty of my friends making rave reviews about their clothing. So I thought, "Well, it can't hurt to pay a visit."
Please note that when I visited, it was during a time where COVID-19 cases were beginning to rise in NC. That being said, I was shocked the moment I walked through that door. All the employees were overly-tanned white high school girls who had no masks. In hindsight, I supposed that maybe there wasn't a mask mandate in that area (I'm from Fayetteville) so I partially ignored it. Also, it felt incredibly weird that there were barely any people of color in there.
As for the clothing, DO NOT EXPECT ANYTHING TO FIT IF YOU'RE OVER A DRESS SIZE 6-8. They only feature and hire skinny girls for a reason. I'm 5'7" and a size 4 and I bought a couple of large tops and skirts and they were nearly too small/skimpy. The prices are also ridiculous. When I went there, they were charging $45 for a white cropped tank top. I do understand that boutique pricings are usually high, but for something I can get for $10 from Target?
Additionally, I have a couple of issues with their social media pages. Their representation is nonexistent, with their Instagram account reposting pictures of nothing but white girls (and the token POC hidden away somewhere, but she has to be very thin). I have an issue with this mainly because the Triangle and surrounding areas include a very diverse demographic. When shops promote non-diversity, it makes me feel unwelcome as an Asian woman.
I feel like there's a lot of areas for this boutique to improve on, but they should first tackle their small clothing sizes and lack of POC in social media. Until then, I'm going to steer very clear from Cousin Couture. However, if you're skinny and upper middle class with a lot of cash to spend, then this is definitely the...
Read morethe clothes arent the best quality materials, are extremely overpriced, and the service is absolutely terrible. they dont do returns or exchanges, and have false advertisement when they do sales...
during the holidays they posted in their window that they were having a 80% off sale or something ridiculous like that, i dont remember exactly but it was a crazy high percentage like that. i got this green sweater jacket, and when i checked out, she told me to insert my card before informing me of my total, and the screen on their card reader had not loaded the price. i trusted that their sale was honest. my card had been ran, i had been charged. i was charged $50. i then asked her about why iw as charged so much when it shouldve been about $10-$15 with the sale (i calculated it before i checked out) and she said "only certain marked items by a sticker apply for the sale" GIRL WHAT?? u shouldve said that before. i told her i wanted a refund bc i was not expecting to pay $50 and she said she cant refund me and can only do store credit. after that experience why would i want store credit?? like tf? after that im nor gonna come back. this place is terrible. waste of your money, you can get cuter things on shein that look better. i know it doesnt take $50 to take a white tank top and cut off the midriff and now...
Read moreI used to love this store and would drive from North Raleigh on weekends. Unfortunately, I just recently went and had a terrible experience. I’m not sure if they got a bunch of new hires or new management or what, but I DO NOT recommend wasting your time at this store.
I walked in and was not greeted at all, and the store wasn’t even busy. Normally, I would be greeted and as soon as I picked up an article of clothing, they would start me a fitting room. This time I was never even able to tell the difference between shoppers and workers, so when it came time to try some stuff on, I let myself into one of their open fitting rooms. As I was changing someone asked how I was doing, I said fine. Then 2 minutes later a worker just opened the curtains! While I had my pants off! Like are you kidding me!? It’s not like the fitting rooms are back in the corner, they’re in the middle of the store. After that I was frustrated and ready to leave. I was in the middle of putting my clothes on when another worker asked me to hand her the other items that were previously left in the room…could she not have waited another minute until I was fully clothed!? I was so upset and will not...
