I highly recommend taking a pottery class at Piedmont Pottery. My partner and I took the Introduction to Clay class and loved it. Over the course of three, two-hour classes (every Thursday for three weeks), Jeff taught us different methods of working with clay (pinch pot, coil, slab) and glazing techniques. You're given 8 pounds of clay which is more than enough to make multiple medium-sized pieces. I don't think we even used all the clay we were given. A truely relaxing experience, painting pottery and disconnecting from the world around you. I genuinely loved being here and now I must return to finish what I started. Thanks to my dear friend Laura (also pictured) we decided to make pie dishes for our homes. I’ve taken both beginning hand building and wheel series with Jeff. I am new to ceramics, and these classes were the best way for me to learn. Jeff is skillful and experienced. He provides information then allows each student to explore, try, make mistakes and will offer feedback. As a hobby, I appreciate the relaxed nonjudgmental, environment to gain skills at my own pace.
