H Mart — Local services in Gaithersburg

I had an extremely disappointing experience at the bakery inside H Mart Gaithersburg. I made a purchase and literally came back less than 5 minutes later to request a refund — but was met with nothing but dishonesty and refusal to help. The staff lied to avoid processing the refund, claiming company policy, while offering inconsistent stories about the product I purchased.

One employee told me the item was made this morning, while another admitted it was made yesterday. So not only are they selling old goods, but they’re also not being honest about it. On top of that, the staff appeared lazy, unorganized, and extremely unprofessional. It was hard to even communicate with them because they barely spoke English, and instead of trying to understand or help, they brushed me off entirely.

This is not how you treat paying customers. I expected better from a business inside H Mart. Selling old products, lying to customers, and refusing refunds for purchases made minutes earlier is completely unacceptable.

Save your money and your time — this bakery has zero integrity. I won’t be coming back, and I don’t recommend anyone else...

I went there yesterday before work & I frequent here a LOT because of that. Yesterday I purchased toothpaste. I didn’t need a bag, since I had my purse. Transaction was normal. Cashier walked away when she was done. FOR SOME REASON, one woman started yelling at me about if I paid or not. I don’t know if it was discrimination because I’m visibly Muslim before I’m visibly Latina like her or what. I asked her if she wanted to see the receipt, because why would I steal something AT THE REGISTER? Where is the common sense? If a customer can’t pay for something, wouldn’t the protocol be for the cashier to pick it up and remove it before walking away? She looked speechless when I asked if she wanted to see the receipt, so I went up to her and showed her. She apologized multiple times, but I don’t care. I will never be back. I had just bought some grocery and had rude awakening from the cashier and the store supervisor. I Had paid and holding on to my receipt and requested for a plastic bag to cover my grocery because I'm riding the bus. The cashier humiliated me in the presence of the other shoppers by speaking Spanish and laughing at me, to say: "he's on food stamp and can't even afford a nickel for plastic bag". I begged her and explained that I don't have change on me and that if it possible that i can put it on my debt card. She laughed off the line. I went to report to the supervisor and was condescending and laugh at me too. I was ridiculed and felt so bad and I requested to return my grocery for refund.
