I recently visited this Peruvian restaurant, and while the food was pleasantly acceptable, the service left a lot to be desired. The dishes were flavorful, and the flavors of Peru really came through, but unfortunately, the experience was marred by poor service. The server did the bare minimum and seemed more interested in staying distracted on his phone than paying attention to the patrons. It wasn’t very busy, with only three other tables occupied, so it’s hard to excuse the lack of attentiveness. Not once did there server return to our table to ask if the food was to our liking. I felt like I had to wave him down just to get his attention. Thankfully, the DJ and his Assistant kept us from having a worse experience. They did their best to keep the atmosphere lively and energetic. This kind of service really impacts the overall experience and is likely to deter more people from coming back. If they could improve the customer service, it would be a much more enjoyable place to dine and enjoy their late night...
Read moreDelicious and authentic Peruvian flavors. We visited on a Sunday for lunch and decided to try to classics of Peruvian cuisine the ceviche mixto and lomo saltado, both very excellent. We also tried the anticucho carretillero and the cuy chactado specials because you can't find those at pretty much any other Peruvian restaurant in the area. The cuy was perfectly done, full of flavor and the anticuchos were also amazing. The sauce that come with the cuy was particularly good, spicy and full of flavor. We also tried the chicha morada and really liked it. Food wise, everything was great. The service was good, but they could be a bit more attentive. Finally, the atmosphere is very normal, but we were expecting that from some of the pictures we saw online. Finally, the portions are generous but their prices are comparable to other restaurants that offer much better overall...
Read moreJust visited La Caleta Peruvian Restaurant in Montgomery Village, MD, and what a find! Opened just 11 days ago, this place is already serving some incredible food.
I started with the Ceviche de Pescado – fresh and flavorful with a perfect balance of tanginess. The Papas a la Huancaina was creamy and rich, just the way it should be. The Seco a la Nortena was hearty and savory. But the standout dish for me was the Lomo Saltado – tender beef, veggies, and crispy fries, all coming together in a delightful mix.
To drink, I had the Chicha Morada and Maracuya juice, both refreshing and sweet, complementing the meal perfectly.
Overall, La Caleta offers great food at a great value. I'll definitely be coming back for more. If you’re in the area, don’t miss out on this new gem. Highly...
