Unbelievable experience at the Galveston Home Depot. We recently moved to the island. We bought a 100 year old house that needed some updating. We have already spent a few thousand dollars there on paint, hardware, fans and new lights. I read all the reviews on this store and hesitated about going there but my husband really wanted to keep the money on the island so we gave it a shot. Last week there was a sale on doors. 15% off. We went in to purchase them. We had the installers out to measure and went and met with the millwork specialist at the store to chose them. Being that the doors are a special size, he had to research and find them. Thats where the problems began. The installers didn't send in the measurements for nearly a week, we got a call from the store stating that he was ready so we went in to finalize the purchase. We did but he realized that the doors still wouldn't fit. He called yesterday to say that he finally found them so we went back. We placed our order for 3 doors but was told that the sale ended yesterday and they would only give us 10% off, not the 15% sale price. Seriously? We wanted them last week when we started this process but they were having problems finding them. The General Manager John was called by the employee and spoke to my husband. He said that he couldn't honor that price because of the computer system wouldn't let him take it off. It was a manufacture discount and he couldn't override it. WHAT? Being that I was in the customer service industry for 20 years as a General Manager, Managing Partner and District Manager, I know that is a lie! A manager has the ability to override any price in a computer as Billy, the floor manager did without a second thought once he heard of our situation. He understands customer service. Lowes is across the bridge and a bit of an inconvenience but I will spend my money there instead. There is obviously a problem in this store as you can plainly see reading the reviews on this 2 star store. ...
Read moreThis is been the worst Home Depot on the planet the last 10 years running. this is really sad because I'm a contractor and I do work all over Texas and it's sad to say that it's in my own backyard. I live here and no matter what I do or what I say, change never comes and flaws only get worse. I'll give you an example. For two years I've been asking that they rotate the old weathered cedar out of the store and bring the new cedar that's been kept indoors down to replace it. It's the same wood sitting there for 2 years that no one will buy because it looks so old and weathered. I even cornered corporate a year or so ago and ask them about it and they said they would fix it and of course nothing happened. And yes, I've asked everyone from the GM, middle-management, all the way to the guys that stock the shelves and lumber even the cashiers at the pro desk... Nothing no one cares. It's not just that it's many, many things. They won't take Lowe's coupons, I have QR codes in my head because half the things I buy aren't in the cashier book or computer system, they block the contractor area so no one can park under it (I have a receipt to pick something up I have to move twice), they allow employee smoking right out front of the entrance even though city ordinance is 75 ft, when they make deliveries they bring all the twisted warped wood everyone picks through, they're always blocking aisles at peak times, and more problems too numerous to mention. It's sad that I have to drive right past the store 15 miles to Lowe's in League City. I'm not going to throw everyone under the bus because the paint department is excellent and a lot of the people that work there are good people but.... F+ You...
Read moreMy refrigerator went out so I decided to finally just go buy new. Went to Home Depot the end of May and purchased new fridge for little over $1000. Not even a week after purchased it starting making loud clunking, grinding sound periodically. I notified Home Depot only to be told they don't handle appliance returns. Then after a little discussions they decided to honor the product and would order another to be delivered the following Tuesday. Well that Tuesday came and went. After many more discussions with managers and appliance center they setup another delivery date and actually ordered the refrigerator. They setup delivery for the next Monday. With multiple calls from their disorganized delivery call center they realized after 50 calls from Friday through Monday on Easter weekend they were actually getting delivery at Home Depot directly and will deliver later. Finally Tuesday came and our scheduled time again came and went. Two delivery guys showed up two hours after scheduled appointment, even after calling and them confirming. The delivery guys took the other fridge and left the replacement still in its Styrofoam and plastic right inside my door and left. This thing is not only heavy but has no way to move as it will take a dolly to get across the tile floor to where it goes. This store is horrible with large orders, appliances and returns. Should we have known all this we would have gone somewhere else for the washer and dryer that was just purchased also. Hope that delivery date goes well :(
Horrible store and representatives. Always use them but just may take our business off the island...
