Macy's put a 90 day late on my credit because they didn't ask me if my address was up to date when they asked me if i wanted to use my Macy's card, which i hadn't used in a long time. I explained this to them, but the lady was rude and didn't care. I then sent her the following email and when i received not response, I sent it to the president of Macy''s, again with no response. I guess they are doing so well, they don't care about retaining customers.
"Please see the attached letter I received (by FedEx – not U.S. Mail), which was the first and only notice I received regarding the late bill. As you will notice, I called the number and paid it in full as soon as I received the notice.
As I explained by phone, I went to Macy’s while on a business trip to Las Vegas and purchased some goofy Christmas suits and shoes for me and a couple of my business partners from Guatemala. The clerk told me I could get a large discount (20% or something) if I had a Macy’s card. I told her I didn’t know if I did or not because I only use my Citibank M/C and my wife does all the shopping. She asked for my phone number and looked it up and found that I did, so I purchased using the Macy’s account instead of my Mastercard. My wife pays all our bills, so I assumed it was paid and didn’t hear otherwise until I received the attached FedEx letter.
We always pay all our bills on time and run probably $20,000 or more on our credit cards each month and always pay them in full. My wife is “Top of the List” on Bloomingdales as well. As the President of a large contact center operation that employs over 1,000 customer service representative, and attends and speaks at various customer service conferences across the county, I was more than disappointed in the service I received from you. All I asked you to do was to remove the late payments from my credit card, which were obviously a mistake. Instead, you gave me all the reasons why you could not. Is this how you want to treat your customers? What does it cost Macy’s to be helpful to a good customer? What does it cost Macy’s to not destroy my credit? Nothing! You could have fixed the reporting error at no cost to Macy’s, and you would have had a very happy customer, who talked about the great service I received from Macy’s, told my friends and business associates about it, and possibly used you as a wonderful example of customer service, all at no cost to Macy’s. Instead, you choose to create an angry customer, who will post one star reviews about Macy’s, use Macy’s as an example of how not to treat a customer when I speak at CS Week in Las Vegas, and other conferences, tell my wife to cancel her Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s cards and tell everyone else I know how terrible Macy’s treated me. Why? What did Macy’s gain...
Read moreI deleted my last review as their "Consumer Protection Dept." Cancelled my online debit card order for $480. They passed the buck and said it was my banks responsibility to take care of it the hold they had given their word on was going to be cancelled 2 days later. 6 days later my hold which they had initially screwed up finally fell off because it ran the normal course. My girlfriend did not get the gift, they held my money so I couldn't buy another and they lied to me repeatedly about what they "said" they would do. What country is Macy's consumer protection joke based in? I doubt it is the US and I would hope for their sake it is not. So 6 days after my initial order I get a $500 gift card from my boss. I really never wanted to do business with Macy's again but I did. It was the same old nonsense. I paid less than $200 with my gift card and they cancelled my order again because they said that they "could not verify my address and phone number". What is this about? Do I have to have clearance from the NSA, FBI, or CIA to make a purchase on a GIFT CARD? Don't worry about my address and phone number and call me if there is an issue and not put me through a huge mess. What if I were homeless and I was going to have it shipped to some kind souls address to pick it up? Why have you been so terrible and why does your customer service stink and I mean stink. I wish I could throw the $500 card away but then they benefit. I may have to hire some people to stand on front of your store or in the parking lot until they get removed with signs that spell out your business practices and other tidbits I have know of. I will never step in a Macy's again and I mean never. I won't even cut through their store to enter a mall. Have you seen venom? Well it is like that . I have years of experience co- managing a Toys R Us and if I had some of these employees that have lost their souls to the likes and filth of the worst (Kim Jong Un) I would fire them all but wouldn't have been stupid enough to allow them to be hired to begin with. Get my point? Shame on your lame so called American business and shame on you for not being willing to just to apologise, get to the business of it and keep your customers. I know I will stay at least 10 people I know personally from this business so what if it all worth? Macy's...
