Owner called to accuse of theft, did not apologize when item we located the item. Visited Tillamook this weekend with friends and was very excited to see an antique store in town. Some of our group went the Saturday before, and I called to see if a chicken candy dish was still available and what time they opened today. I was very excited to find the dish, but now I have to write my first long one star review. There were two main problems, We were shocked to see them selling racist Jim-Crow Era memorabilia for a profit, it's unfortunate to see in 2024. And worse, 2. We bought our items, and several hours after we left, I was called by the owner (who had my number from the day before) who did not introduce herself, and instead asked "are you the person that bought the chicken," then claimed (not suggested) someone in our group stole from their store. She claimed they had searched the entire store and could not find it anywhere, that our friend left first (they hadn't) and clearly had taken it. I called back to let her know where the "missing" item had been set down after we had asked a question about it. She kept me on the phone while she went to find it, which she did immediately (this call was 32 seconds start to finish, so it took no time to find it) and instead of apologizing the woman scoffed asked "how [she] was supposed to see it there." We love visting antique stores, especially love supporting small businesses, but have never been treated like this before. Misunderstandings happen but (who I assume was) the owner was aggressive and so rude. We definitely won't be vising again or...
Read moreStaff member accused my friend of stealing from their shop.
Visited Likely Finds Antique Boutique this weekend and while there were quite a few pieces in here, when I first arrived to the shop the person behind the desk was no where in sight. Eventually they did return to the desk from a back room. The group I was with explored the shop and purchased several items. One member of the group had even called previously to check if the store was open because they had seen a piece the day before that they wanted to purchase and did not want to inconvenience the staff.
Several hours later after we had visited the shop, the friend that had called previously to check on the hours received a call from the staff member. They claimed another member of the group had stolen something from the shop. They said we were the only ones in the shop, which was not true, several other shoppers had browsed in the time we were there.
When the item was located within the shop after our group recalled where they had last seen the item, there was no apology from the staff member.
As someone whose family runs a small business, the idea of calling a customer and accusing them of stealing is absolutely unprofessional and rude. Especially when a staff member left the shop completely unattended while customers were browsing. So, if you'd like to visit this shop and not be accused of stealing, definitely don't call ahead to check store hours. And definitely don't pick anything up or...
Read moreVisited this place because it looked warm and inviting, however was very disappointed to see racist Jim-Crow era ceramics being sold for a profit in 2024 by a white lady. Very racist depictions, not âantiquesâ, and shouldnât be sold. Additionally, my friend called to ask if an item was available the day before we visited and the next day after purchasing the item and leaving, my friend received a call (meaning the manager had kept my friends number from the day before in order to call us back) and accused her of stealing an item she was looking at. My friend politely informed her where the item was in her store, to which the manager confirmed the item was in fact there. Instead of getting up and looking at her OWN inventory, she accused us theft. She did not apologize and was annoyed that my friend put the item down in a different spot that âsheâd never see it in.â Overall, wouldnât...
