Reading the past reviews almost made us change our mind to golf here. Iām glad that I didnāt let someoneās unpleasant experience ruin this. There was nothing wrong with the tee boxes, the greens where in better shape then the high priced golf courses that I have played earlier this year. The cost for the round was even better, $26.00 ($2.00 off if paying with cash, compared to paying with card). There was nothing wrong with the shape of the course, yeah everyone wants more more more out of course, it couldāve had this it needed this. The course was taken care of, mowed greens, mowed fairways. If you are wanting a fun course, that in my opinion, was worth what we paid then this course will give you what you want. I get sick of reading reviews where everyone wants everything to be top notch everything perfect. If you want that go find it and I guarantee you will pay for (60-80/round) and the hard to please golfer will prob still be unhappy and have something negative to say about something they didnāt like. Check the course out for yourself and I bet you will be just fine with the way the course is and you will get a score, because this course plays just fine. Stop reading reviews where someone didnāt get enough ice cubes in their drink and are probably unhappy and picky about everything anyways. We were very happy with everything this course had to offer. We will defiantly be back to golf this track again and it will probably be in better shape the next time cause the weather is only getting better to help the course take shape!! Swing āem...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI attempted to play this course a couple of weeks ago with my son. It was the middle of the week and was not busy at all. During the first hole I was helping my son with his stance and setup. I dropped a ball next to his about 20 yards off the green and showed him how to take a half swing. After I took the shot, a young man (who I later found out was the new owners son) came over to me on his riding mower and told me this was not a practice range and to not continue to give my son pointers during our round. The tone and attitude was terrible. I was shocked to see such rude and pompous behavior from a course employee. After a rather heated conversation, I immediately returned to the clubhouse and informed the manager what had happened. He was very apologetic and he told me it was the owners son and he would let him know. As we were packing up our clubs, the owner came out and apologized for his son and said he would discuss it with him. He mentioned he had been working him rather hard lately but he clearly said that was no excuse. He also refunded our money and was very sincere in his apology. However, I would have preferred that his son had come to apologize for his rude behavior and terrible attitude. This was not the case. I have three children of my own and I would be mortified if they ever spoke to anyone that way. I will say that the course looked beautiful and well manicured with lots of new improvements. I wished this had not happened and I was able to enjoy my round of golf. Not sure if I want to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe last time I played this course was in 2004 and even then it was sketchy. Back then it was called the 'City' course and managed by the city of Gastonia. Since then an independent management group has taken over.
I met some friends for a 'tune-up' round in preparation for a charity tournament we're playing in.
I called a week ahead to make the tee time and asked about their practice facilities. I was told they have a driving range, practice putting and chipping area.
I drove from Fort Mill and got there an hourly early only to learn the range was shut down for 'over seeding'. There is no practice chipping area only a putting green.
As I was entering the Pro Shop, I saw a sign that said 'Snack Bar'. Once I checked-in and got my cart key, I asked what time did the Snack Bar open. the lady said "oh, we don't have a snack bar". My response was " you got a snack bar sign, but no snack bar". She just stared at me.
This course is ragged.
I don't like the lay out, too many blind shots and poor sight lines. The greens and tee boxes were OK but the fairways were in bad shape and if you are out of bounds, you will lose your ball or be heavily penalized.
There are creeks that criss cross the course with power lines above as well. There are some ponds but none that create difficulties for your shot.
I was going to play 18 but after 9 holes, our group decided to stop play.
I doubt I will return, just way too many other...
