I am only giving this facility three stars because of a few employees and one particular phlebotomist who were extremely friendly and helpful. However, for the most part I found the majority of staff to be very rude and abrupt with me. Even asking for an ice pack bc you're prone to hot flashes bc you want to make sure to remain as comfortable as possible while you're donating is treated like an outrageous request when it comes to some employees unless you're in the throes of a "reaction". Up until last month I had never donated plasma before in my life, and had my first experience there and went five times all together. I was actually deferred for literally calling in and asking a question pertaining to their policy about having dental work done. I was unaware that they could defer someone just for inquiring about their rules and regulations. Evidently, they can do that to you based solely on sheer suspicion. Apparently, since I called in and asked about said policy they automatically assumed I must have had a tooth extracted, and I was told that in order to come back I would have to be counseled by medical staff, and basically have to prove that I did not have a tooth taken out recently. I understand when it comes to things like that, they have to cover all their bases and be extremely cautious. But they're also seems to be a recurring theme there when it comes to being threatened with a deferral. You can tell that's the only power that some of these employees have, and they are quick to pull that card. Otherwise, I did find the process to be very efficient and the facility itself is very nice. Trust me, I'm well aware that they won't miss my presence lol but due to what I deem to be a very unjust reason for deferring me (even if it wasn't permanent) I will not be going back. They did explain to me that they have to be cautious when someone calls in inquiring about something like that, but if I were trying to be surreptitious about anything I would not have called myself to ask about that particular policy. Their explanation was that they can't give medical advice over the phone, but I was asking about a generalized policy that they have pertaining to dental procedures. Which is general public information that could be given freely over the phone or otherwise. So that doesn't even fall into the same category as me asking for medical advice that pertained...
Read moreI am highly dissatisfied with my recent experience with Grifols. I would most definitely not advise anyone to go here. I arrived eagerly to donate at this center. Upon arrival I was greeted by a staff member who directed me to the kiosk to answer the required questions and then wait to have bp and other levels checked for donation. The young lady that was performing my medical checks was EXTREMELY INCOMPETENT, I watched as she struggled to apply the blood pressure cuff correctly to my right arm twice and when that didn't work she proceeded to apply the cuff to my left arm. I myself am an experienced healthcare worker (both Nursing and Laboratory) and have been for 25 years. I politely asked if I could show her how to do it correctly so that she can gain an accurate reading. She informed me that I must remain standing while she gets the readingđ¤ Complete total red flag. Once she got the reading it was EXTREMELY HIGH....as she went to enter it into the system, I told her that, that reading is inaccurate because my bp doesn't run high like that. I asked if anyone else could check it and the young lady said that I would have to wait the minimum of 15 minutes. I asked to speak to management who informed that by policy I had to wait the 15minutes to be rechecked. I expressed the unfairness of the situation, to Manager Quita. I expressed to her that it's not fair that I'm being punished due to negligence of her staff member and because they failed to train their staff correctly. Quita advised me that they will reprimand her on the back end for her part, which makes absolutely no since, Quita the manager stated that I could wait the 15 minutes or leave and return tomorrow. I politely expressed to her that I WILL NOT BE RETURNING, because obviously if the medical staff checker is incompetent, what does that say about the entire staff, because everything comes from the head (Management) and flows out to the remainder of the staff. I truly believe that cooperate needs to re-evaluate the management and staff at this facility and maybe they won't have such a high turn over...
