I am a recent employee of Cracker Barrel, this place is a joke. I worked four weeks if not longer without a day off, I did my job and went above and beyond. I got five star reviews, had numerous compliments from customers of how great my service was and talking about how great their visit was and how it was the only time they received that kind of service. I don't know what Ray the managers issues with me was but every single time I worked with him I would not be seated like yesterday for instance November 29, I had picked up a shift for one of the girls I went in at 8 am mind you had worked the night before on Thanksgiving because it was mandatory. I went into work and I clocked in at 8 and from 8 to almost 9 am I was sat one time while the other girls had been sat three four five six times and only once for me. This had been an ongoing thing when I worked and I had brought it to all of the managers attention and nothing was done about it at all. I was told it was because of rotation but rotation isn't people getting double sat and triple sat while one server had only had one table. I truthfully think that it was because of me being gay, I can't seem to think of any other reason as to why it was an ongoing thing and nothing had ever been done about it. So after being there for an hour getting sat once doing my silverware I was done and I left, only to be greeted by ray in the store to which he told me to get in the office so we can talk, funny thing is I had talked to all the management about the same thing about me not being sat and nothing had been done. So he then proceeded to tell me that I was not going to get my tip out and if I left I would no longer have a job. That is fine and dandy because this place is a joke. The management shows favoritism, they praise the servers who don't do their job and are bad at it and the good employees they treat like trash. It was a joke from the moment I started just like for orientation for instance our orientation was five hours long and I only got paid for 2 and a half hours. I said something to management and nothing was done, just like when I expedited the pay was 13.85 I worked from four until almost nine because I wasn't allowed to leave until the kitchen was caught up so for about five hours at $13.85 my pay was only $26.00 so something didn't add up and when I brought that up it was swept under the rug and I had gotten a story about the pay which didn't add up. The moral of this story is I'm pretty sure that this was an ongoing thing because of my sexual orientation. There were numerous people in there workers and such that can vouch for the seating thing. I worked non stop with no days off I was there on time did my job and did it well, to be treated like a dog and fired because of a situation I had brought to all the management. The food is mediocre, the management out of all of them two of them are good the others are not. When an employee brings something to managements attention and nothing gets done for weeks and weeks that goes to show how much they don't care. The money was good, but all the other stuff that came along with it was not, very unprofessional, not a good environment and things need to be changed, come Monday I'll be reaching out to the proper people. I do not recommend this place and wouldn't to anyone I know, if you want to wait for long periods of time, have cold food, and service that isn't great this...
Read moreI don't usually post negative posts but today was definitely interesting. My husband and I were seated and the restaurant was crowded and loud it was a Saturday afternoon it's to be expected. When our waitress finally made it to our table her first words were "Yes I know it's crowded and to loud in here, I don't normally work on weekend afternoons for this reason because its just to much." Ok....no hi welcome to cracker barrel my name is ..... I will be your server can I get your drink order? (Usually the introduction we receive) She brings us our drinks and she then asked us if we were there first or the couple in another table. We had no idea. She said "I think I need to take their order first they have waited longer then y'all." Ok.... she then asked if we knew what we wanted and took our order. 30 minutes go by with her walking past our table when the manager walked around seen us and told her how about get them some refills. (We never said anything to the manager) Refills were brought and my husband was given a cup that has a major crack in it (accidentally) the manager came by and we gave her the cup and she had a new one brought. I believe the waitress thought we had complained on her because when she brought our food (1 hour waiting time total) she sat the plates down said "I guess you want biscuits now. Do you want jelly? " Yes please..... Then she asked if we needed anything else. All I said to her was "Yes we need forks." She flips and said "Ma'am I am doing the best I can you don't have to act like this." I told her excuse me! You asked if we needed anything and we need something to eat our food with! Didn't think that was to much to ask. She stormed off only to come back and tell another waiter loudly that she was going to give out table to him. Thank goodness for this because he was friendly and professional. He sadly even apologized for his coworker. While this was going on she was at a table nearby and was pointing at our table and talking having the couple turn to look at us! I have never had someone in a service position take a dislike to me for nothing I could figure out that I had done wrong. The couple beside us asked us why did the waitress seem to be angry with me. I had now clue. When we left we talked to the manager and she said that she would speak to her because she had received a few complaints on her. We stressed the food was great and the 2nd waiter was great. Maybe she had a bad day I don't know, but she made the whole...
Read moreRecently, I was out of town with my wife on business, and I placed a take-out order online. We were staying in a hotel very near the Cracker Barrel in Gastonia, North Carolina. My wife wasn't feeling well, so we decided to eat in the hotel room. I got to the restaurant a little before the order was supposed to be ready. There were a few other people in line waiting for take-out orders. The restaurant was moderating busy at that point. Another customer in the take-our line said she'd been waiting for over an hour, and the other one a little less time. While I was waiting, people came in, sat down to eat, paid, and left. I waited for over an hour for my order. The young man at the cashier station was very nice and apologetic the entire time. At one point, I asked for an update and some idea of when I would get my order. Somebody in the back told the young man that they were "working on it" but provided no additional information. At that point, I found a manager in the retail store area, and I asked for help. She was very nice and she went to the kitchen to check on my order. She told me that they were very busy, but she was still unable to provide any details. In the meantime, a couple of people in the take-out line gradually got their orders after one-hour plus wait times. The female manager was doing her best to be helpful, but it was still quite a while before my order arrived. When it did, the manager gave me a golden coupon for two free meals. I was satisfied with that accommodation, so I thanked her and left. The food was relatively warm and good. My wife and I returned the next evening for supper to discovered that the same restaurant was closed for what appeared to be a fairly large addition to the restaurant. It was clearly not a last-minute repair or anything like that. Nothing at all was said about thme restaurant being closed the very next day when I was there the night before for the take-out order. I don't know yet if I'll be able to use the coupon because nothing was signed or dated on it. Overall, this was a very disappointing experience. I've eaten at Cracker Barrel hundreds of times over several decades. If I'm unable to use the coupon, when nothing was said about the obviously planned construction the next day, I will be very...
