Drop Dead Hair Studio (Val Vista Lakes) — Local services in Gilbert

It’s ok. I’ve seen the hype on IG so I thought I’d give it a try. This was my first visit today (11/16/24.)

I arrived 5 minutes early before my appointment, and my hairdresser was 10 minutes late. No real conversation with my hairdresser, although she was nice I guess I had a higher expectation for the money that I’m paying. She was checking her phone periodically too, in which I felt less important.

I explained I wanted a shag/wolf haircut but honestly it feels like my hair was barely worked on. I wanted some layerrrrsss because I like spiking and poofing up my hair…my hair is still too long to do those kinds of things…

There was no side table for me to keep my purse and I’m sure some chunks of hair got into my handbag from the haircut :/ when my haircut was done I went to the ground to get my bag, and out of nowhere, the hair dryer my hairdresser used fell on my hand kinda hard. I wish I told someone about it…

$70 for a hair cut that looks pretty much the same as if I walked in, kinda a waste if you ask me. And for a hair studio to not have a table or something to keep your handbag on??? I’ll just stick to great clips at this point and get the same thing for $10…just no...

i’ve been seeing Rubie G at the Val Vista Lakes location for over a year now, and I could never see myself going anywhere else. From the moment I met Rubie, she was so friendly, sweet and accommodating as well as knowledgeable and quick to pick up on what i like and didn’t like hair-wise! our first appointment was a color correction to get me back to being blonde. Ever since then, she’s kept me blonde and actually seems to get me brighter and blonder every time i come in!! A few months ago we added a bit of pink for fun and it faded out perfectly. Rubie is so talented at what she does and I look forwards to every appointment not just because I know my hair will be perfect but because she’s become a close friend to me. As a hairstylist, she is attentive, thoughtful, and I always feel like we’re on the same page with my hair. She also put me on some great products that really improved the health of my hair! The salon itself is such a nice vibe, cute design, and extremely clean and organized. They also offer complementary snacks, drinks, even coffee! Which was super nice considering how lengthy my appointment was.

I had Rubie as my stylist! I’ve been going to her since December 2023 and she amazes me EVERY TIME. She really listens to what I want and works thoroughly and explains what she’s doing to my hair every step of the way. She explains what products she uses and why she uses them; she’s honestly the best and most honest hair stylist I’ve been to! I wish I had my before photo just to show the amazing work she did, but she took my previous balayage and gave me the vibrant red I wanted. I love love love it. And she thoroughly explains after care as well and always responds to any questions I may have post-appointment. She’s the only stylist I trust...
