I have gone to Gladstone bowl my whole life. I have always enjoyed it as a nice, inexpensive bowling alley, unhindered by the noise of loud music and TV's, but still with the classic bowling alley feel. If it were not for the incredibly uncharitable manner with which I have just been treated, I would give it a 5-start rating, but the disrespect of the employees cannot be overlooked. They are requiring masks when not bowling or drinking/eating. However, as soon as I sat down, between drinks with my drink IN-HAND, a lady came over and told us that we cannot have our mask off. I tried explaining that I was merely taking a drink of the soda I purchased, but she rudely insisted that it must be on even between drinks. I then saw her and another lady working there confront a gentleman who was in my exact same situation, drink in-hand, between sips. During our two games she constantly glanced at our table, killing the mood and nearly ruining the entire visit. She was being blatantly disrespectful to her customers, which I have never seen there, but I do not think it will end any time soon. I have gone there more times than I can count, my entire life, but because of the way I and many others were disrespected, I feel that the spirit of the family bowling alley has been killed. I must say that until they make it more like a family bowling alley and less like a prison camp I don't...
Read moreThey had open and league bowling so we tried to get one of their open lanes this afternoon and they just kept asking us if we knew anything about league bowling. I'm not sure what that had to do with anything but they just kept saying it. I worked at a bowling alley for 5 years and was on several leagues so yes I do know about league bowling. They said we couldn't have a lane because league stated you had to have 2 lanes open for emergencies but they had 3 lanes open. They were so unbelievably rude. We ended up going to a place in Noth KC who welcimed us in and got us going right away. Shame on you Gladstone Bowl. We spent almost $300 at the other place (that also had a league going) on food and fun. The horrible people at Gladstone Bowl wouldnt even acknowledge us until I raised my voice. The league excusees was total bologna. We even called before to make sure we could bowl and tried to reserve a lane. They just didnt want to work tonight and were so crazy rude. They wouldn't even acknowledge us standing right at the front desk right where they were standing. My whole family of 10 was literally ignored and...
Read moreI'd like to thank Gladstone Bowl for a fantastic event on Saturday! Jamie and her team were wonderful to work with - from the initial planning phase to the big day.
Tanner and Richie were wonderful at the counter! Professional, poised and patient with us, which I imagine was challenging at times because our event took up 18 lanes and we used the microphone frequently, so we were in close quarters at the front. Tanner took it in stride and was very kind. Richie did a great job of prepping and monitoring our lanes, and he was very helpful and also kind.
It was fun planning the food with Jamie and Jason, and they were thoughtful about quantities and menu selection, which I very much appreciated.
For refreshments on the event day, Jason set the tone of professionalism, flexibility and fun! The entire diner team, which included Jackie, Elizabeth and Shena, was great to work with. They were patient, friendly and accommodating from start to finish.
We look forward to having this event at Gladstone Bowl next year. Many thanks again to the...
