When I give a negative review, my intention is that the establishment sees it and makes some adjustments. I really want local small businesses to survive. Let's start with the food. I was looking forward to eating here based on the Google reviews (4.4 out of 5 when I wrote this). Bar food is my favorite kind of food. Lots of mention to the wings which did taste good and gave them a star. My pet peeve when it comes to wings is when restaurants leave all three sections together (drumette, flat and tip). The Peanut does this which drives me nuts. Why? Have you tried eating wings this way? Other than looking bigger when served, I don't know anyone that prefers trying to pull apart the wing while it is hot and covered in sauce. Our table also got the fried mushrooms, which were good, but cold. We got the beef nachos which were not memorable. The tacos seemed fine, but the fixings at the taco bar on taco Tuesday were lacking. My friend said his chicken sandwich was juicy for being fried, but didn't care for the breading on it. One of the reviews I read before going talked about the great beer selection, but I don't get that since there was no beer list or even a display of beers behind the bar. I like trying different beers so I was not happy with the waitress' list of a few common beers and a question asking me what kind of beer am I looking for. A list or display would help the wait staff. Speaking of the staff, we only saw our server and the guy that brought out the food and replenish the taco bar after we brought it to his attention that toppings were low or out. For a taco Tuesday, I only saw a handful use the taco bar. Our server was frazzled to say the least. We had to ask for napkins, silverware (consisted of one of those plastic forks that is so flimsy, it is pretty close to worthless - wouldn't be of any use try to break apart the chicken wings), catsup, etc. Good servers know to bring all or most of these things after you place a food order. After some time after our food was delivered, she stopped by to see how we were doing. I pointed out that they can't serve wings this way and only give me two napkins and no wet naps. We also needed drink refills and catsup. She came back with napkins and then remembered she needed to get drinks. Stopping by the table next to us, they must have also needed drinks since she came back with theirs. After looking at us did she finally commit to bringing us our drinks. Never got the catsup. As for the place, it is a Gladstone dive bar. Has that old musty stale cigarette smell with very dim lighting that makes...
Read moreI have never been to a restaurant that, when I asked the server what TYPE of sauce came on the wings, I was told it was a secret. When I pressed her & said I wasn't asking for the recipe, just the type of sauce (bar-b-q, mustard, hot sauce, etc.), I was pretty rudely shut down, she refused to tell me ANYTHING about the sauce. I'm a visitor from out of town that was looking to order 100 wings for tailgating at the game tomorrow, needless to say it won't be from here. I guess telling a customer that you're "not allowed" to offer even the briefest of description of the sauce (mind you, the ONLY sauce they have for wings) you serve is more important for you than the $150 I would have spent buying wings for the game. And not to pile on, but the fact that you can't even cut the wings & discard the garbage tip is lazy. If you keep dissuading people from buying your wings, you won't have to continue to be all high & mighty about your "secret" sauce. What a joke!!! & I only gave it 1 star because the review made choose 1-5. I tasted the wings my girl ordered, I would give it a zero, not because of the wings (they were just OK), but because of the all too...
Read morePretty nice place, lot of older folks like me in the calm scene. I ate mostly in the outside area. The food was great but they forgot my slice of cheese in my burger, which is really not that big of a deal, because later I bought the sliders and it had cheese on it, and the sliders were the "cats meow". The place was busy when I was there, but still somehow calm. Definitely the best Friday I've had at a place like that. The music isn't blaring and deafening like everywhere else. Having to shout to get anyone wasn't an issue.
The bartender remembered my name, which is amazing considering the amount of us there, as well as all the other tables and that I've got the most forgettable face you ever forget you saw, so that was a big surprise.
Overall, near perfect marks for a Bar n Grill. I'm going back for sure except I hope they'll forget my...
