The only time that I visited and ate at My Xuyen Authentic Vietnamese Cuisine was back in late June 2022 with my mother, who has always thought about giving My Xuyen a visit because she has heard some positive things about the restaurant, and My Xuyen is a popular restaurant that offers authentic Vietnamese cuisine in Kansas City. When me and my mother first walked inside My Xuyen, we saw shelves of antique Vietnamese figurines that were made out of glass, and some were made out of ceramic and other metal. There was also a little bit of a variety of bowls and dishes that are sometimes served at a china-shop style of business. We also saw that you customers can buy large bags of rice, plastic bottles of sriracha sauce, and other ingredients and sauces that can be used in Vietnamese cuisine as well. The restaurant of My Xuyen Authentic Vietnamese Cuisine has a cozy and inviting atmosphere with traditional Vietnamese decorations that is meant to make the customers feel like they are in the country of Vietnam.
The business next door to My Xuyen Authentic Vietnamese Cuisine was also called “My Xuyen”, but the formal name was “My Xuyen Asian Market”. At My Xuyen Asian Market, there was different ingredients for many different Asian cultures besides Vietnamese cuisine. Other Asian cuisines sold at My Xuyen Asian Market include Filipino, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Thai, Mongolian, and other Micronesian and Polynesian cultures too. Other products offered and sold at My Xuyen Asian Market include Cooking Classes, Art, Jewelry, Teas, and Spices as well.
The menu at My Xuyen Authentic Vietnamese Cuisine has a wide variety of Vietnamese Pho soups, Bahn Mi sandwiches, spring rolls, grilled rice dishes, Vermicelli Rice Noodle bowls, bubble teas (also known as boba teas), and other tropical fruit-flavored beverages that are made with fresh ingredients and bursting with lots of Vietnamese and Asian flavor. There are some popular dishes that My Xuyen Authentic Vietnamese Cuisine is known for. One popular food dish at the restaurant is Com Suong, which consists of a grilled pork chop served with a fried egg, white rice, lettuce, cilantro, cucumber, pickled carrots, and fish sauce. Another popular dish served at My Xuyen Authentic Vietnamese Cuisine is Bun Dac Biet, and this dish consists of vermicelli rice noodles topped with grilled pork, shredded pork skin, and two egg rolls. The Bun Dac Biet dish is also served with lettuce, cilantro, cucumbers, pickled carrots, and fish sauce. There is also the Bun Cha Gio Thit Nuong, which consists of grilled pork and two egg rolls served with vermicelli rice noodles, peanuts, lettuce, cilantro, cucumbers, pickled carrots, and fish sauce. Flavors of boba tea served at My Xuyen Authentic Vietnamese Cuisine include Honeydew melon, Watermelon, Strawberry, Coconut, Pineapple, Mango, and more. There is also blended fruit drinks which are like mixed fruit smoothies served at the restaurant too. Combos for mixed fruit drinks include oranges & carrots, triple berry, banana & mango, and more. When my mother & I visited My Xuyen authentic Vietnamese Cuisine for lunch in late June 2022, I ordered the Pho Tai Bo Vien soup and the pineapple-flavored bubble tea. The Vietnamese meatballs in the Pho Tai Bo Vien soup tasted similar to hot dogs, but the soup tasted really spicy and I like spicy soups sometimes. On the other hand, the pineapple-flavored boba tea tasted decent because the tapioca pearls at the bottom tasted similar to modern licorice and gummy drop candy, but the pineapple smoothie part of the bubble tea tasted delicious.
To be honest, my trip to My Xuyen Authentic Vietnamese Cuisine was the very first time I tried bubble tea and my first experience with bubble tea was okay. However, I think the taste of bubble tea usually depends on what flavor of bubble tea a customer orders. The service was decent, but I strongly recommend that customers visit the My Xuyen restaurant if they want the best Vietnamese cuisine in the Northland area of Kansas...

Bánh Mì was very good. Well prep, crunchy enough on the outside, and nice warm and tasty on the inside. Just enough vegetables and meat to make it one of the most delicious I’ve had. Top five? 😃
The spring roll could be better, if the experience was heading for an A-, the spring roll was the one that brought the grade down to B+. The spring roll was not full enough for the price. Good size but felt it need a tad more veggies and maybe just a touch more meat/shrimp. The peanut sauce was too liquify for my taste. I like it thicker, one of those that U can’t turn it upside down like DQ’s blizzard and expect it to stay in its container! 😂
The bún thịt nướng đặc biệt, overall was good. The meat was a tad salty, but I would have graded the overall experience an A-. The egg roll was tasty and over all the meat was pretty good. Just enough veggies to make the dish wonderful!
Two things that I can say might have make my experience better and it’s my fault not the restaurant. I ordered it to go and I ate it on the go in my car. I was on the road and the sit down in the restaurant might have made a difference to make it an A- experience…two thumbs up. At least I wouldn’t hesitate to come back if I am ever in the area. Things all around must be inflated, because I find the prices was on the high side. Definitely bearable because it tasted good. Thanks BRANDON! 🙄
Thank gawd I hit this gem on the road and definitely make life on the run a great experience! Couldn’t have done it without google map!!! Far cry from a paper map!!!...
Read moreFor my first time here, I tried a couple of dishes. I quite enjoyed the rare steak pho. It had good flavor and hit the spot. This may seem strange, but I really liked the jalapeno thinly sliced. They still had a little crunch, but were not overpowering. For the second item, I had an egg roll dish that included noodles and some raw veggies. It came with some peanut sauce that I wasn't sure about tasting it on its own, but on the dish it worked great. They have some of the better egg rolls I've had. They seem a little heavy in black pepper, but I like black pepper. As a treat, I was also given another egg roll and a couple of crab Rangoon in my to go order. I saw another review where they also had been given a couple of extra items to try. Since one of my dishes came with a bunch of cut up egg rolls, I didn't need the extra one and would have preferred something else to try, but considering they were free, I'm grateful and not complaining at the least. The restaurant was nice, but I had some PTSD from the sandwich shop that use to be there (not good). On a Wednesday evening around 5:30ish, I was the only takeout and only one table had guests. I think my only complaint would be the college guy that took my order. He didn't seem happy about either being in college or had graduated from college and to show for it was working the counter of a restaurant. Sounds like he would be...
