UPDATE: After initially denying us any sort of refund, they were contacted by the Arizona Attorney General after I filed a complaint. At this point we were asked to provide documentation and receipts and, almost 5 months later, finally received a refund for an agreed upon amount. Obviously the refund is much appreciated, but I still plan on doing future purchases with a reputable vendor who does not tamper with manufacturer’s stickers and serial numbers (Any manufacturer warranties/recalls are void without the sticker containing serial numbers). Hopefully they stop this shady business practice moving forward!
TL;dr: CHECK YOUR APPLIANCE FOR MANUFACTURER'S STICKER W/SERIAL NUMBER OTHERWISE YOU MIGHT GET SCREWED OUT OF THE WARRANTY!!!!
We have purchased multiple appliances (washer, dryer, fridge) from ADA over the course of a few years. The shopping experience was great, everything is on display and at a super discounted price. They advertise that everything is new, open box, with possible minor cosmetic issues. Now, a few years after our purchases, we have run into an issue with our fridge and what should be covered under the manufacturer's warranty will not be due to this company removing the serial number from our appliance.
We initially called a few repair places and were told by all of them that LG had extended their warranties on their fridges due to bad compressors so to contact them first to potentially save ourselves $1200. We called LG, and the warranty is 5 years on the unit so we should have been good, all they need is the serial number to start the repair process. I tore apart my entire fridge and Lo and behold, no serial number anywhere, thus voiding the warranty. Now I can either pay $1200 for a new compressor or go buy a new fridge. We called ADA to inquire about sticker removal, which they denied removing it. Suspicious, I checked our washer and dryer and surprise, surprise--also no serial #s! Definitely not a coincidence. One repair person I spoke with said discount appliance places are known for doing this to void manufacturer's warranties. I called ADA again to call them out and the guy admitted it and said "we're supposed to do that." Sounds super sketchy to me seeing as how the LG customer service rep told me that no vendors should be removing the stickers on appliances they plan to sell. Also, things get recalled all the time, especially dryers for catching on fire--how am I supposed to check if my dryer is recalled without a serial number? Super frustrating because had we been told this company does this it would have been a huuuge red flag and we would have spent the extra $1000 to purchase our appliances from a legit LG retailer.
Photo is where it looks like the serial # sticker was removed from my washer. The other photo is an example of what the model number sticker you SHOULD have on your appliance looks like. Third photo is text from LG after I sent them photos of every surface of my fridge, including the paper stickers Arizona discount appliance placed (no serial numbers anywhere)
I am planning on filing complaints with the Better Business Bureau and AZ attorney general. If you check your appliance and can't find the serial number sticker anywhere, even if your unit is not broken (yet), I urge you to...
Read moreTerrible experience. Dropped off a washer/dryer. Didn’t hook up the washer correctly so it flooded my entire living room and into some of the bedrooms then had to use MY mop and all my towels to clean it up cause they didn’t come prepared with any. Also delivered a fridge and did not clean underneath the old fridge. They asked me if I wanted to. Then they installed the fridge and left with my old one. Failing to notify me that the new fridge does not fit in this space. I cannot open the freezer door because it hits the wall and now I have to pull this fridge out myself and put it in the middle of the room in order for my food to not go bad. They easily could’ve notified me of this, left my original fridge and I would’ve paid for the mistake I made of incorrectly measuring. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS...
Read moreThey lie. Purchased an LG refrigerator and they mentioned their extended warranty and I asked them about it covering after the regular warranty expired which they said yes. When I got the fridge delivered the craft ice maker never worked so they sent someone a couple days later to replace it. It then worked for about a week. I called back and spoke to a couple different people and then left a message and no one called me back. I got a message on my LG app that the craft ice was not working and would I like to set up a work order to have someone look at it, which I did. When the LG guy got here he told me he was not allowed to work on my refrigerator because it was a scrapped model since all the stickers w/model and serial number...
