AH-SO Sushi & Steak — Restaurant in Glendale

I’m disappointed to say we had a terrible experience at Ah-So Glendale location. We went for my wife’s birthday, and the chef was inexperienced and did not cook enough rice or vegetables. The table of guests were all upset because the rice had to be re-cooked, and it tasted like vegetable oil and was inedible. Then our calamari was given to another guest, so he had to re-cook that. Our calamari that was served to us had no flavor and it was not cooked all the way (rubbery and gummy). We refused to eat it because you can get very sick. They refused refunding us the calamari, so we had them make us a new one, but had to have it to go since we were out with our 1 year old son, and the chef already took up so much of our time. My wife started feeling sick from the excessive oil and had to take our son outside while closed out the $90 bill. Our server offered to cover half of our bill since it was such a terrible experience and the food was not edible, but the management came back and said no. They didn’t even want to cook us a new calamari steak at first, they wanted me to hand-pick the calamari off my plate for them to take in the back and cook. The manager said if my wife had to go to the hospital, then they have insurance that would cover it. After 20 years of our family going to this location (in addition to the other Peoria location), we will never be coming back and will let our family and friends know as well. Obviously their customers and service do not matter, and all they care about is money. We do not get to spend money on dinners very often, so this special occasion was unfortunately a very negative experience and ruined our night out as a family and birthday...

I have been here quite a few times with my kids and had nothing but good experiences. Went last night with friends for my birthday. We wanted to sit at a grill and have the full experience since some of us had never been but myself and my spouse were the only ones there so far, they came over and asked every 5 minutes if the rest of my party was still coming ( we were a party of 5) I told them we were early and wanted to wait for them but they pushed and pushed for us to order, manager and server both gave us a bunch of attitude about it honestly. So we reluctantly ordered because of how they were acting when we honestly would've moved if we needed to to wait for our party. They then notified us that the grill chef would not be cooking for the rest of my guests ( they literally showed up right after he went to another table). After they came and we started drinking the server was much more attentive and helpful but the hostess and manager were rude the entire time. They took it upon themselves to add their own gratuity to our bills which is normal for a party of 6+ but we were 2, 2, 1 and then she tried to play it off like it was a mistake AFTER ringing one of us up with it. My friend got charged a second time for her entire order and another 13$ tip added. Overall it really seemed like they were counting on us being to drunk to notice so we'd tip more $. We aren't cheap by any means but she gave herself a 22$ when we were going to leave her 40 so it was really her loss. If you go drink here watch your receipts and account afterward. I saved up for 2 months to bring my daughter here (my problem not theirs) for her high school graduation present & mom & daughter time. Was so excited for her first teppenyaki experience. We joined a couple who were already seated. The "chef" came & instantly started talking to the other couple in Spanish. We were all smiles & truly engrossed & thankful for his skills or lack there of. Just thankful to be there. The other couple not so much. Talked to eachother, took a cpl pictures. The chef kept his attention on them, spoke in Spanish with them & hooked em up with half my daughters meal I paid for . I ordered filet & shrimp for her, vegetables for me. They ordered chicken & steak. But got the majority of the food & my daughter got 2 shrimp. They got 4...didnt order shrimp. I'm all about a hook up! But not at my expense. I was going to tip him $10 but tipped $5. They didn't tip at all. The servers & host was incredible. I didn't want to make a negative experience for my daughter & kept my mouth shut. Felt cheated when we left & won't be back. You never know a customers worth or value. Treat all equally. You never know what people are going through & the sacrifices made to go. Spent hundreds there in the past before life kicked us in butt & one day we'll be out of this but again, treat each customer equally & hook up secretly & not on another's dime!
