The Root Beer Bar — Local services in Golden

The root beer float is good. The process is that you choose a bottle of root beer from the cooler, then go to pay for it. They'll give you a cup of soft serve if you pay for a float and you mix it yourself. It's not ideal but understandable. Maybe you could ask them for a separate cup on the side if you want to put a float together properly. They also have root beer on tap but it was a more common one so I didn't get that. One of my party members did, and they barely put any tap root beer in it. I know that it fizzes up a lot, but still. It would be nice if you could try some of the bottles of root beer, otherwise there are so many and there are no descriptions so it's a crapshoot. The antique store itself is cool, but it's not organized according to any category so good luck if you want to find something...

When I saw the sign for a Root Beer Bar I bout lost my...stuff! I freaking love root beer and this place is AWESOME! They have root beers from all over the country and if you buy 9 you get 1 free! They also have choose-your-own root beer floats with either vanilla or root beer ice cream. There were some other menu items; hot dogs, nachos, pretzels...but I was there for the root beer (and antique shopping.) I can neither confirm nor deny that it is "the world's largest root beer bar", probably a bit of a stretch, but it's definitely the biggest in Colorado. This has been a very special outing for my 6 year old grandson and me over the past 3 years. We would choose our root beers and have root beer floats and then we would walk throughout the antiques looking at all the treasures.
