I would give zero stars if I could. This has been a fiasco. I ordered two items last night from the website to be delivered. I’m on my way home from the mountains and I get a message saying one of my orders had been picked up!?? First I called the home office and talked to someone I could barely understand who spoke broken English. She was no help at all and you could tell she did not know what she was doing. Then I called the local store and asked for the supervisor. The lady I spoke with said she was the manager and she informed me that because the item was not there she assumed I picked it up. I asked her did she check for an ID and she said they don’t do that anymore. So be aware if you place an order for pick up (which I didn’t do) someone can take said order and whether you picked it up or not they will say you did. The manager told me she could not change anything and I would have to call the home office again. So I called the home office again this time I got a male who spoke a little better English. He first tells me he will give me a refund on the item that was sent to the store and picked up by who knows who? Then he tells him because my other item hasn’t reached my home yet he will not be able to give me a refund and it will take several days. He then offers me free shipping lol if I re-order the item. However the item’s price was high enough that I got free shipping anyway. I think Michaels needs to improve on their customer service and the way they do pick ups. Keep in mind I asked for both orders to be shipped to my home. What sense would it make to have one shipped and the other picked up from the store?? Refused to honor price that was listed on the shelf for 2 separate items (when it was many of the same item and even after I, the customer, had to go take a picture of the both of the items as she acted as she did not have the time nor patience to do so or even call someone else to check it. Finally another cashier did go look at the two items, and she went and looked at it and then removed the tag and said it was no longer on clearance and it was gonna be full price. So - I told her that it was false advertisement of a price, and she said that they did not have to honor it b/c it was not on clearance any longer. So only AFTER I had to ask to speak to a manager and show him the pics and then the girl says she took the tag off the shelf. So thankfully James, the manager, said he was gonna make it right and honor the prices that it stated. If you are an amateur is perfect to see all the possibilities and maybe have some suggestions. Employees are very very nice and extremely helpful. I have always found a very good costumer service.
If you are a professional artist, though, you could find difficulties. They often have only the basic items, you won't find the best quality for professional art supplies.
Also, IMPORTANT, prices are way higher than they should, but I still gave 4 stars because on their website you can find discounts up to 75% off everyday on 1 item per day.
So it's worth it if you can't wait to find a best price or you need something quickly and you can't wait the shipping time buying it online.
My advice is to always use the coupons because I have noticed that most of the items can be bought on Amazon for 1/2 or 1/3...
